I was so excited watching this video because I’ve been photographing kinglets all week here in the Milwaukee area (fully understanding you guys had the difficult time of shooting much earlier in the season). They are a ton of fun to capture as they don’t sit still for too long. You gotta take your shot when you can. Great video guys!

Great video! Ryan, your part was more like what happens to me, especially with rare birds. Rare birds just seem to avoid me. Derek, you never did finish talking about that watersnake and cottonmouths. You must be easily distracted by birds. :D

I usually see 5-7 FOSP while walking home from my school in my local park. I live in California so I see the sooty form (way less cool than the red imo). However a few weeks ago I finally found a bird I check for every single time, the rare Altivagans subspecies!!! I was just as excited and relieve as you were lol!

Way to do the heavy lifting, Derek! Ryan: nice looks at the Fox Sparrow! I bird Estabrook a lot and I’ve only ever gotten quick glimpses, and not even where you were…there are a couple of slow seeps along the river that are good go-to spots, but you nailed it. Look forward to the next video!

I love seeing you in places like Louisiana. I'm armchair travelling. Oh boy, finding the kinglet and fox sparrow in February seemed a tall order to me. Wouldn't find them here in Toronto, Ontario area that early but Milwaukee is a wee bit further south. Kudos for the fox sparrow. Busy little guys. Thanks for sharing.

@@BadgerlandBirding I made a video from this bird if you are interested to watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5y1doeIhKxjoMU In Europe all American birds are very rare, especially songbirds. I believe this is the 18th record for Europe. It's the second for the Netherlands.

Hey! I found your feed through Stefano's. I enjoyed watching the challenge unfold. Derek - I believe you mentioned Joyce Wildlife in your segment. Is that correct? I live in Covington and I am always looking for new places around our state for a photo adventure. You have any other spots that you are willing to share? I had excellent luck getting shots of eagles down at Lockport.
@BadgerlandBirding2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Thomas! Thanks for the comment! Yes! Joyce WMA in Ponchatoula! It’s longer than the Lockport boardwalk and has a nice Bayou feel. Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve near NOLA is another cool boardwalk trail. Great spot for Prothonotary Warbler during breeding season. Big Branch Marsh NWR is also a good one for Red-cockaded Woodpeckers (see video below). Let me know if you’d like more! -Derek kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6OWn5Kfj5KBn6c
