i just have a short rope under my cj-7, so i can pull the steel rope under the jeep. only one warn wince needed. but i like to go forward. if needed i can return and not have to pull the wrong way. but for every time i hooked myself up. there must be 10 times i pulled someone else out. but that is because my jeep is made to go on the rocks.

I had to mount my solenoid box reversed for the same reason. One of the springs was in the way of the remote port, so I took the spring off, turned it around and put it back on and it clears the remote port now. Been mounted up that way for a a year and used many times with no problems.

well, you said it all, you didn't want the best, you wanted cheap because you only wanted to spend $400. It's not about looks, it's about quality! BTW, your synthetic rope degrades fairly quick, whereas my 18 year old Warn winch & steel cable works like new. What will your cheap winch look & perform like in 18 years?

Excellent advice! Can your Land Rover do the exact same thing as your Jeep?

Thanks, but no. The Range Rover lacks clearance and the tire options are limited without cutting away the inner and putter fenders. The solid axle is 💯 better for true off-roading.

Granted, the Harbor Freight winch gets mixed reviews, but I see more favorable than unfavorable reviews. I have looked at the junction box. The 2 little mounting brackets can be easily removed (4 nuts). All you'd need to do to mount it so the cables aren't out front is cut a thin metal plate about 4 by 6 inches, and drill 8 holes in it, and drill 1 more hole in each of the brackets that came with the winch. The plate would be used to simply offset the junction box forward enough to enable the cables to clear your grill, while still using the existing brackets.

Good suggestions. I was hoping for a zero modification but in a pinch yeah that would work. Thank you

Good Video Thanks. Badland seems a good choice. Jeep does look like bad table manners with Spaghetti. ☺️

I think that was because your bumper was to small I was able to mount mine under the grill under the grill and on a rugged ridge bumper

Does anyone know if the planetary can be rotated so the lever is facing forward instead of up? Looking for a hidden winch and some of the more expensive models allow the rotation of the planetary lever so it sticks Out forward.

Put the wires through the holes in your grill looks like they would line up.

How do you know if circuit breaker is blown? Do they sell them separately? Haven't been able to get mine working. Still 3 mo old

You’ll need to check each solenoid. You can go to harbor freight website and they have replacement parts for this winch.

Synthetic rope to me is junk I will never use synthetic rope on my harbor fright badland winches because synthetic rope gets week over time from the sun and the stuff I use my harbor fright winch for a cable is the way to go for me not a rope
@gregparrott4 жыл бұрын
I've had doubts about synthetic myself. But, the large majority of those who have used both prefer synthetic. The UV issue is easily addressed by leaving a cover over the winch when not in use (which also keeps it cleaner). The only clear downside is abrasion. Steel cable can rub and rest against rock and other objects a lot better than synthetic. With synthetic, you need to put a cloth or protective mat between the rope and the rock,

I can't believe you would even mount that thing on your Wrangler!
