I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

You have provided me scenes that I would have never be able to see on my own (I'm handicapped) and because of this you've shown me things that these great United States have. Thank you so much for bringing me along. You'd make a great tour guide and cinematographer. One day you could start up your own TV show called "Out of the way places you've never been". Everything was "so cool"! 🐂

The picture of that farmhouse just automatically makes me think about the dust bowl and it’s tragedy. The Dust Bowl, also known as “the Dirty Thirties,” started in 1930 and lasted for about a decade, but its long-term economic impacts on the region lingered much longer. Severe drought hit the Midwest and southern Great Plains in 1930. Massive dust storms began in 1931.

The prairie dogs are adorable! Especially the one who grabbed the paper bag and made off with it 😅 The fenced in bison without any grass in sight and afraid of humans are a stark contrast to the park bison who feel relaxed enough to rub against a pole so close to you... And then there is this otherworldly landscape everywhere - great images!

Love how fractal the badlands are: the erosion features at your feet around 4:50 could easily be a relief map of what's spreading out to the horizon. What an amazing and varied land we live in; thanks for sharing your travels through it.

There is just something about the wide open places, where the only sound is the relentless wind. Love it. Been a long time since I was at the Badlands, such an amazing place. And those Prarie dogs are cute! But also create great harm to the environment, as well as hazards to hoofed animals and humans (broken legs and ankles). Wonderful long video, loved every minute of it!!

My mother's family settled in that region back in the late 1800s coming down from Canada, in the Lead, Deadwood, and Sturgis area to work in the gold mines. My mother herself lived in a house much like what you found. She has told me that when she was a little girl that she and her siblings would walk 3 mi to her grandmother's house to take a bath because she was the only one in the family to have indoor plumbing.

This video reminded me of when I took my kids out to the Badlands when they were little, back in the 80"s. It was a lot of fun, exploring all the crazy different ways to go. I took my camcorder with full size VHS tapes. I remember it being very windy and the mic picked up all that wind. But it was something I'll never forget.

Hard to believe but this was once part of an inland sea. Later as the sea ebbed away leaving sediment after colorful sediment it was a subtropical forest and finally a savanna afterwards. Good thing you visited it now as 500,000 years from today it will have eroded away. By the way 12 years ago a child found a fossil of a saber tooth cat in the National Park!

Those metal road gratings to keep the herd animals in are known as cattle grids in the UK. Used to have a lot of them in the area I grew up in near London back when I was a kid in the 1950's and 60's. Most of the farms have now disappeared as the area has slowly succumbed to urban sprawl and old dead industrial spaces have been given over to warehousing or residential development. Some call it progress but I think it's a shame. Most of the countryside I ranged over as a youngster is gone and the local children now have very little space to roam compared to my time.
