This is surreal seeing my home on KZbin like this. No one ever pays attention to North Dakota or the North Dakota Badlands. I am from just 10 miles west of Medora and worked there for several summers before college. I even did part of my Driver's Ed in the park. Thanks for showing it off.

My husband and I were doing a marathon of your videos this past weekend. When you were walking the trail to Teddy Roosevelt’s old home place, you made the statement that you felt a little uncomfortable because you were alone. I looked at my husband and said that you were not alone. That you had all of us with you. My husband gave me that look and I realized what I said. But you do make your videos feel like we are right there beside you. Your wonder and excitement come through on your videos so well. It makes me feel like I saw everything there is to see there. I believe that all your pictures are good enough to frame and hang on the walls. And that is a rare prize. Thank you so much.

A fantastic film of a wonderful journey through amazing landscapes. The more I see of North Dakota, the madder the accusations of it being 'boring' seem, and the more I want to cross the Atlantic and experience it first hand.

I really enjoy your travels, my husband passed away during the covid-19 but not from the covid-19 he passed away from a stroke right when all this started happening. I only got to go in and see him for 5 minutes and an hour later he passed away so I have been watching your videos and they're bringing me Comfort to see the outdoors when you really can't go anywhere in my situation so I want to thank you so much for these places you go to! Thank you again please keep them coming!☺👍👩👍 stay safe!😷

I met a retired farmer from SD at my County Grange. We watched the square dancing of younger folks and as the fiddle players were too loud we had a chat out on the porch chairs. Quiet night. Coyote yips. Smell of fresh cut hay. Was told he'd sold the farm. Right next to the badlands. Absolutely nothing in view except a crashed USAAF bomber. 'Flew into a flat place. Burnt.' His daddy said, 'Noise caused the cow to run off and they has no milk until it was found.' A week later. 'Got on the party line and told the Sheriff. Lots of strangers came, who got angry when we didn't have answers to their questions, and then they were alone again.' It could have been a bad dream except for that one thing that couldn't be ignored. '

Thanks Robert for saying nice things about my North Dakota, born and raised in the Bismarck, Mandan area and live in Fargo area, the real flat land and old lake bottom, I believe the Red River which runs north and is the border between ND and MN is the lowest spot in the state a stark contrast to the western side. Great video and thanks again.

This is one of the first Traveling Robert videos I ever watched uninterrupted, and the one that broke the mold. I had always thought North Dakota was desolate and empty of anything worth paying attention to. But that eye opening topography and those otherworldly geological formations, oh my. It made me realize there’s a big stereotypical world out there that is begging to be painted in a new light. And here you are, doing just that. One external hard drive at a time. The sense of being dropped into the center of a scene or into the tactile truth of a landscape is a feat to behold for my brain, and to be able to create that way, is talent wisely used. I’m pretty sure I tapped the subscribe button after viewing this episode. I’m glad you are showing so many places more than once because once, is just never enough, is it? A great re-watch to go with the new episodes, and a nice way to end the day. Thanks for creating such a varied library of discoveries over all these years. I’ll always watch when I can, and I’m happy to support. Now, I just need to find the perfect spot for the sticker that came in the mail today.😊

Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🎸🎸, Unfortunately there are no PELICANS in Theodore Roosevelt National Park but, there are lots of Bison, deer, and prairie dog's. The scenery is so SPECTACULAR, especially the main unit. I definitely like the main unit so much better. Driving I-94 into Western South Dakota feels like it's the gateway to the west. Driving to the west, into the sunset driving to West🎵🎵🎵🎵!! I'm really looking forward to the next video as you head to Glacier National Park, but I know there are some other hidden gems on the way. Great video Robert👍👍👍!

Another wonderful video Robert! The scenery is spectacular!! Love how this is essentially your love song to the west!! Several years ago, my wife and I started hiking one of the trails you were looking at hiking across the Little Missouri. After a bit we ran into a herd of bison on the trail so started going around them cross country. With the ground rolling, we decided we couldn't see enough to ensure we wouldn't come up on a bison without warning so we decided to turn around. As we were hiking across the prairie without a marked trail, we heard a rattlesnake. Never did see the snake and managed to get back to the trail without a problem but we were reminded that there were wild animals around! :) Safe travels ... and safe hikes!

Absolutely loved your video! We were there at the end of September and it was so windy so we didn't get to do much hiking. Standing up on the top Buck Hill was hard enough! I found the North Unit to be more beautiful than the South Unit, and when we were there we basically had the north unit to ourselves. We were at this park after being in Yellowstone, and even though Yellowstone is unbeatable, there was just something about Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Having hardly anyone around while you are taking in the views makes you really appreciate what you are seeing even more and the landscape there is stunning. I have told everyone that it's absolutely a park that everyone should go to. It makes you really take in nature and appreciate what we have around us. Thank you so much for sharing it with everyone!

It's in the middle of no where and you could honestly miss it easily, it's just flat lands than one turn and there it's kinda weird the first time you go there to see a hour of nothing but flat land than massive hills and valleys beautiful place though. Winters are horrible but if that's your thing you will love it!

Try attempting to view wildlife at dusk and dawn. You missed out on the Pronghorn, elk and bighorns.

Robert, your filming is fabulous. I always enjoy the way you film as you hike. It makes me feel as though I am hiking. My husband & I absolutely need to check out the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Thank you.

Nice views! Robert, you have to get in the habit of keeping your hiking shoes in your truck! Also, you might want to have your swimsuit as well. I look forward to seeing your next video. I have been to Glacier National Park. It is great and I hope to get back there someday. I haven't been to North Dakota so I would love to get there also one day. Thanks for all your hard work!

Just discovered your videos and love them. 1. You have a great "eye" and work is beautifully shot. 2. You have a great, soothing voice, so works great with your longer videos. 3. Background music is fun and non-intrusive. Loved Yellowstone and Grand Teton videos. Certainly one of the most spectacular National Parks and adjacent areas. Wildlife is what makes it stand out from others we have visited. Bison are just magnificent creatures - imagine 50 Million at one time across the western plains! Keep up the great work.
