Hi Adam and Abby, just wanted you to know that my husband and I ate at the ROUND THE BEND STEAK HOUSE the other day and we had Allie for our waitress also. I told her that I saw your video the other night and had to try this place out. The steaks were AWESOME and so was our service there. Just wanted to say thank you for recommending this steak house. Take care and travel safe!! God bless!!!

We took the Sagecreek Rim Road (dirt road) all the way around the park, fed the prairie dogs, saw buffalo and then went back at night to see the stars. OMG that was the most amazing site - to look up and see thousands of stars - I've never seen that many in my life. You can even see the Milky Way. Talk about quiet....it was so very dark and scary quiet -but that sky was unbelievable. Truly magical.

Ya'll are stompin' some of the same grounds that my beautiful wife and I roamed back a few years ago. We took a couple years off the work trap to travel and experience some of the this great country. Turns out, it was one of the best decisions that we ever made. Shortly after coming back home, she was diagnosed with cancer and fought it like a warrior. I lost her 5 months ago. I'm reliving some of our adventures through your eyes now. Can't begin to express how much this is helping my soul. Enjoy your journey's! Looking foward to the next one.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the wife. Your experience is why we always tell folks “no don’t wait until you’re retired, do it now, anytime you can!” People wait until it’s too late. You never know what life will throw at you. Even our parents now days couldn’t do most of the trails and hikes we do because of aging health problems. People should always take advantage of time off and traveling any chance they can, IF that’s something they have interest in.

Awesome for you guys too share. In 1971 we layed over in Big Bear CA, in the desert in a 1950 VW Bus,, there was a still that is hard too explain,, but the wolves broke that silence around midnight, and will remember that time spent in Big Bear. Its the home of Roy Rodger's and dale Evens. My Ex lived there, so had a great time seeing home of Roy Rogers, and the Hells Angles base camp. Life goes on, but not adding to my bucket list to re-visit ,,(@@)!

I'm from Ireland (via Yorkshire) and the only Badlands I'd heard of is the film (great movie btw). This was so educational for me, enjoyable, and also got me researching what other films were filmed there, Dances With Wolves, How The West Was Won, Starship Troopers. The film Badlands was largely shot in Colorado but I believe does feature scenes filmed in South Dakota.

It's even more impressive when you are here, and traveling through it. Even people in the Eastern US have *no idea* (as I didn't, before I did it) how enormous, and how fundmentally *different* it is as you go through the different regions. Going from the East, to the midwest, to the West, you could almost draw a line across the road showing where one ends and the next begins. For example, along I-80 it goes from flat-as-a-pool table (although sloping upwards) "Midwest" to "The West" at about Happy Jack Road, near the top of the Sherman grade. You start out at 900 feet elevation in Omaha, you wind up at Cheyenne at 6500 feet - with no mountains or even big hills on the way.

I agree going out early really added to the video. The long shadows the quiet. When you walked out in that ridge with death on the left and right my wife was over it real quick. Said you were giving her the heebie-jeebies. You may not know at Lake Jacomo where you camped there are elk and bison. Fenced in of course, good thing too. We would take the kids there to feed them carrots and apples. The fence was tall and stout. Once I was watching the kids while they were feeding a big bull bison. I let my shoulder barely touch the fence. He just tilted his head sideways in a very casual way. His horn hit the fence near my shoulder and knocked me out into the parking lot. It sucked real bad. I think if they feel provoked and who knows what that takes and you could be in a world of hurt. So I applaud your sense to stay in the truck and film. We’re really enjoying your trip.

No worries about the audio - the music was enjoyable! It brings me back to when I was there. My First encounter with a Buffalo was in Yellowstone while camping on the Madison River. I was walking on a exposed sand bar back to my camp in the evening when I was halfway across a herd of buffalo came through me, I made like a tree with my fishing rod pointed straight up and they walked right past me. Unbelievable how an animal that size can be headed straight for me then at the last minute turn and move around me. I could have reached out and touched them, but was to scared!
