Now figure you are traveling through the badlands and have to pick your way here and there. There are miles and miles North to South of these flood channels since there was a 400' ice flow that melted and drained through this country side and created the Great lakes and Major rivers of the central and western US. Thanks - flying over them is something else !

Cool, cool love the Badlands and Blackhills as well. Out there in July and had a blast, stayed at Interior RV and Motel, nice place, KOA looked nice as well. If heading to Blackhills hwy 44 is nice drive thru badlands to SE Rapid and easy connection to all the Campgrounds and sites. Have fun guys

I am glad you liked the badlands. It is a beautiful area. The southern area of the State of SD is awesome too if you come back.

For eleven thousand years, American Indians have used this area for their hunting grounds. Long before the Lakota were the little-studied paleo-Indians, followed by the Arikara people. Their descendants live today in North Dakota as a part of the Three Affiliated Tribes. Throughout the Stronghold District are spent 50 caliber machine gun shells and 20mm cannon shells. Larger explosive shells are occasionally found eroding out of the Badlands buttes.

I was riding a motorcycle through Custer and had a buffalo trot along almost next to me. Quite intimidating on a bike. Cool experience though. I was investigating that KOA for a tent camping road trip next spring. Thanks for the little review.

LOL, if you want to see Buffalo up close and personal go to Yellowstone! They are literally everywhere you go in the park and sometimes they cause traffic jams because they’ll just walk right down the roads.

I went there as a kid with my family when I was 10. My dad got lost in the park, this was before cell phones and GPS, so it took a few hours to find our way out. When we finally found our way out it was getting quite late so we went to Sturgis to find a hotel… in the middle of the motorcycle rally, it turns out. No hotels. No motels. Nothing. We stopped at a gas station to buy sandwiches and candy, then spent the night in a church parking lot in our 2 door 1982 Oldsmobile 88, a family of 5. Not a good night’s sleep. I slept on the floor in hump in front of the back seat while my two older brothers hogged the bench for themselves. A cop woke us up wondering why a car packed with people with BC plates was in a Sturgis church parking lot at 4AM. We couldn’t get back to sleep, so my dad headed for Mt. Rushmore. We got there at 5 AM, well before they opened. I don’t know what it’s like now, but in 1991 you could just my walk in and see the monument. There was no security. So we watched as the rising sun lit up the faces, in complete silence. It was pretty awesome, and it left me with this memory of the monument that is almost surreal.

Seems like you two are always on vacation.Good for you. I don’t know how you can be lolly gagging around the badlands when your new shop is being built. America’s youth 😀

We don't call it "lolly gagging" or whatever that means. We call it traveling and seeing this great country while we can! The new shop space is still being built and not finished, and will be waiting for me when I return.

at one time there were several ICBM silo's located in the badlands. shame you didn't find the ho chi min trail as we used to call it. it was a one way dirt road running along a ridgeline leading to a couple of the silo's. i would have love to have watched you try n take your rig down it without losing your mind. when i say it was narrow i do mean narrow with about a 60 foot drop off on either side with about a foot of shoulder on either side. we actually had some airmen who would try to see just how fast they could make that run....myself about 15-20 mph was my limit. there was one guy rumored to have hit 60mph but i rather doubt it.

Your visit
@Almightyrastus3 жыл бұрын
@@AbomAdventures Hmm, I think it must be one of those lost in translation things between the US and the UK. Surely you would want to commemorate your visit rather than cancel it. Meh, no worries, still an epic trip so far, loving the videos, lots of fun.
@chkwgn4603 жыл бұрын
@@Almightyrastus it's a passport book and every national park has stamps so you can fill your book with all the parks you visit. Not sure why they call them cancellation stamps.
@Almightyrastus3 жыл бұрын
@@chkwgn460 Yeah, that's my confusion. What is it cancelling and why would you cancel your trip? Surely you would still want to go on your trip, hence why you are there getting the stamp.
@chkwgn4603 жыл бұрын
@@Almightyrastus not canceling your trip for sure, maybe just canceling that spot meaning got that one.
@jrneff97733 жыл бұрын
why do they call it the badlands
@charleseck39413 жыл бұрын
Because back in the day of travel by horse and wagon, those areas were almost impossible to travel through. Hence the name “badlands”.

I'm glad you folks are enjoying your holiday, it gives us more to watch 😊 Abbey, could you please show us your graphic art you do, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see it., who knows it might bring in a heap of private work and you can go KZbin full time, as you in particular know your abilities can be done ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD it makes for a good mobile income, if you are on the road and something pops up or rears it's ugly head, Adam can't bring his machinery along very easily but his skills and knowledge are available in the right circumstances, skills like yours are money in the bank with so many options out there for you to earn. Regarding the Bison check out Dusty and family on "Cross Timber Bison" I have been following them for about a year now, very interesting, we don't have them critters in Western Australia 😒 Enjoy the trip.
