One of my favorite Badlands riffs. You captured the sonic fury that is Jake E Lee.🎸🔥🎸🔥

Very nice my friend, another great BL’s song. Badlands were always the music that I love to listen to but never really cared about trying to play. I have a lot of music like that but I really like listening when someone else likes it as much as me and decides to play it - it’s like a gift at Christmas to me. I like watching someone with a true passion for a certain guitar player that plays it really well, and you always do. Like me and EVH, you love Jake E. Lee and Badlands. What a killer group of great musicians. I couldn’t believe that their second drummer was that actual lead singer of Racer X, withPaul Gilbert. That guy had a great sound on drums, he hits very hard and very solid metering. Oh, I miss Badlands and Ray. Cheers Bro, keep scorching KZbin.

What would Badlands be if Ray were alive. I also like a passionate guitarist.Gary Moore is one of my favorite guitarists.

@@nonkey yes, Gary Moore was a great guitarist to many, especially in the UK. I’ve always wondered what Badlands would sound like today. First of all, I think they would have disbanded anyway - because of poor management. They weren’t getting shown off to the world like they should have been. They were also getting ripped off money like many others. Secondly, I don’t know if Ray would have been able to sing as high as that anymore. I bet he would improvise with lower notes a lot and his voice would be more raspy. “Voodoo Highway” was like 27 years ago. Some singers like him developed nodules or soars on their vocal cords from yelling, singing and screaming to loud repetitively for long durations. Their voices get raspy, then they go for surgery and it takes an octave out of their voice. I think David Lee Roth had this done around 1990 because he lost his scream and he has lost his lower end of his voice when singing high. Before they go for surgery, they get warned that they could lose their singing voice completely. I would have liked to hear Ray and Badlands again for sure, he had the blues, the swagger and the look of a real rockstar, and the ladies loved him - a little too much lol.

@@flashy5150 I didn't know that David Lee Roth also had surgery. It's difficult to keep singing for a long time. Badlands is the best song for Ray.

@@nonkey I don’t know for sure if Dave had surgery, but it sure seems like it, his voice is totally different.

Awesome job!🤘 I can never get anywhere near his Badlands tone - I guess it's mostly about power amp breakup at unfeasible volume!

I always have thought that guitar solo started with his thumb in front of the fretboard
@warborn_inc.2 жыл бұрын
It does...the way Jake plays it live he definitely starts with his thumb wrapped around the front of the neck. I actually have an old Guitar magazine with Jake in it that has this solo transcribed and Jake demonstrates his Thumb technique There is one other player on KZbin who covers this song and plays the solo exactly like Jake does. Not throwing shade at this verison at all. Always enjoy your posts...keep up the good work.
