After this rescue, we rushed Washington to the hospital, and after receiving medical treatment, I had to take Loreta to urgent care. The doctor cleaned up her wounds (you can't see the bite in her arm on this video), he gave her antibiotics and pain killers, and she will always have a scar on her arm from this rescue. She is going to be OK :-)
Washington is still in bandages, but as you can see, he is up and running (and jumping, and kissing, and hugging).

It was great that you showed the bite, and the reaction to the bite. Sometimes you can't save a dog without getting bit, and it just comes with the territory. The fact that Loreta was not angry with the dog about the bite was great to show the dog was just scared, not inherently dangerous.

Actually it's not all that uncommon for dogs to get lost out in the middle of nowhere. Camping trips, day hikes gone wrong or even running off from a rest area along the interstate have all ended with dogs getting lost. It's clear that at one time he was a pet, and, despite his distrust early on, he's obviously very happy to be back with people. If he really was dumped then I'm right there with you, but it is possible that his ending up out there was entirely by accident. Either way I'm just really glad to see that he's safe now.

he may have got away , in 1992 my mom found a tiny 3 lb yorkie in her yard, she was recently groomed and had blue painted toenails, so she wasn't out for longshe looked for 3 months to find the owner , no one ever claimed herso I drove to ohio to get her, she was about 3 at that time and I had her for 15 more years, she was juts over 18 when she passed, I always wondered if someone had a broken heart because they lost her and never found hershe had the most spoiled life and was a total diva and was a blessing but I wish I knew how she came to be in my moms yard and hope if she got out and lost that the owner by grace of god knew she was loved and cared for

Yea she is by far the one that gets bite the most. Have seen 5 vids in my marathon of watching hope for paws where she was bitten and didn't faze her once. Wiped it off and went right back at it. A real woman that is filled with overwhelming compassion.

This is the worlds most thoughtful rescue company. I am 100% amazed that she got bit and still wanted to save the dog, that not even the most bravest person alive would be able to do!! Luv them all so so much❤❤💖💖💗💗

always easier for those to criticize and most of them do nothing to help. I'm with you on those who so easily dislike. I've founded and managed horse rescues and had to deal with those who "knew better" and found fault but did zippo to help.
