Came back in 2022 because I started watching the Netflix series. Been listening for 2 years now and missed this one. As much as I listen to true crime, I haven't delved into Dahmer ever, so I appreciate the research and story and humor, Dan!

The Disney actor who played him in My Friend Dahmer was amazing I thought. The one who played his increasingly alarmed friend Backderf was also really good. One of the best serial killer movies ive seen.

They found a pepperoni pizza with human noses on it in his fridge. They called it a Dahmer-Nose pizza! They also found 7 testicles in a jar. When asked why an he had an odd number of testicles, Dahmer replied, "Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't."

I saw the Polaroids on reddit, I was shocked. There was a body in the bathtub. It actually looked like 2 bodies stacked on top of each other, and his chest had been skinned, you could see the ribs. It was so sad. And in another picture he had the body bent backwards like a back bend, but the body didn't have a head 😢.

Often find myself going back to a lot of the Timesuck episodes I skipped over in the beginning because I find almost everything interesting when done in the timesuck way. I had to have an eye roll though at the idea that Dahmer was autistic. This seems to be a thing that people love to try and place on serial killers or others who do things that are unbelievably cruel, if anything it just shows how much the general perspective of autism isn't realistic. I am autistic, I have friends who are and I volunteer with people who have varying disabilities so I'm surrounded by different levels of autism. I can say regardless of anything that's been studied on autism that I have NEVER met an autistic person who would cause deliberate, conscious harm. I have met many who might do harm in serious distress, I have done that as a kid. I also know people who have hurt others because they did not understand that they were hurting someone. I can't really imagine a person with autism actively trying to hurt others repeatedly. The idea is always that people with autism can't do emotions, that we don't have them. More modern research (and the experience of adults with autism) has proven that people with autism are often more empathetic than the average person, the issue comes with expressing emotion and comforting others. I think that a lot of people see someone who is a psychopath and believe they see autism symptoms but really what they see is symptoms of psychopathy that happen to be similar to Autism.

This is so important, the tie between violent crime we can't fathom and autism/ or even mental illness is so untrue and ancient. I cannot understand how people don't get how it just simply doesn't exist.
@millimoi45592 жыл бұрын
@@chestercopperpot777 being autistic isn’t being a victim, it also isn’t a mental illness or mental condition. Your lack of information on the subject voids your ableist rubbish even without your desire clear to push others down.

Many Norwegians are similar because of having a very small population, or low genetic diversity. Robert Hansen is another one.

Re hicks murder: I thought I heard Hicks did not die instantly, and dahmer strangled him with the dumbbel
@ReturnOfTheJ.D.4 жыл бұрын
That's correct - the dumbbell only knocked him out and Dahmer strangled him later before or as he regained consciousness, fearing repercussions for that assault. He sexually assaulted Hicks while he was unconscious.
