Sir, your guidances have always been so unique and effective. I daresay that I have seen many club players playing the clear above them. I have to practice again the clear shot the way you said because I have become habitual of doing it wrong way. But corrections are a part of life. Thanks a bunch.

At last your videos clear my many questions about the difference between the three types of techniques in badminton playing. They are scientifically analysed and illustrated by the videos. Having said that, I wish to ask, by your way of playing, in hitting a clear the player have to step back a step before he hits the shuttle versus hitting it above his head?

Hello Coach Lee, What is the best hitting action for when you need to clear from the deep forehand corner? would you be able to make a video regarding this? as I tend to use drop shots when shots are played to my deep forehand corner and cannot generate enough power for the shuttle to go to the back of the court. Thank-you for your help, your videos are very informative.

Yes I understand the issue. In singles, forehand deep rear corner is very difficult area when you are under pressure. I am planning to make clips nut it will be bit later. I have not done it but it is a very important skills in singles. Lee

Hello lee sir, I have a few questions regarding the mentality during a singles game. 1) If we should be aggressive from the first point or defensive till we get a good lead. 2) At what point in the game should we start taking risks like smashing hard or making difficult drop shots - how much point difference is good to maintain. 3) What should be our strategy when its deuce. 4) Strategy against more agile opponent or taller opponent or powerful smasher or someone who is good at drops & net game. Basically how & when to change strategy during a game & how to keep ourself ahead of the opponent's game. Thank you sir. Love from India.

I think you have been playing for while and playing a good level. I have one simple answer for all your questions. The best tactic is to select best shot at each moment. It is not good or not right to have fixed idea during a match which will make you limited what you can do and also limiting your choices. Let say your opponent has powerful smash and you decide not to lift. This idea will make you play very negative and your focus in on not to lift. You can not play a match without lift. A shot will be perfect choice in a situation but same shot can be real bad choice in same situation but if your opponent is waiting because you did it before. At each moment be able to choose the best shot is the best way. To answer the 3) you should play safe but waiting for the moment to put your opponent under pressure and be able to attack especially be able to take the net and make him lift and you smash. At this time you must remember what he has been doing from the start of the match so you already know what he may do. Tactic is only working if two players are similar. If your opponent is faster, more accurate and have deeper concentration and will to win then you loose what ever tactic you use. You need both, all the skills, movement and mind set and then learn all the basic tactics and then practice to use them at the right time. Lee

Coaching Badminton Thank you so much for your kind words sir. I always question my loses. I have powerful smashes and also good defence mostly because of speed. So during a game i am always debating myself if i should try to finish a point with a smash as soon as possible or try to rally and wait for a weak return and then kill ? Because if i keep on winning the points with a smash then i think:- a) I will get exhausted soon. b) I will develop a bad habit and only rely on power to win the points and neglecting my overall game. c) Someone with great smash defense will take away my advantage. So then should i just try to have long rally and make him tired ? Or just be more aggressive and break his defense ? Thanks.

That is why you need to play different players. If your opponent can not return your smash then you should use it. You should loook for better players to play against. If he is good then he will not allow you to smash then you have to develop otherways to play him. My advise to you is to find different players and develop your tactics against them. Lee

when some1 says to take shuttle overhead he means to do at the same point wow didn't know that....that means now we have to move deeper for clears too😨
@luffydu88100
@luffydu88100 7 жыл бұрын
Yes that is that. But remember that this is the "ideal" way ! In match situations , this time where you won't be able to take the shuttle in front of you. And when you go deeper to take the shuttle in front, you use and extra small energie. So there is moment where you should do this, and moment where there would be less interest about doing this. It 's just my opinion though :)

Even though it makes sense, but it is not practical most of the time. If the contact/impact point is always in the front, 99% you should do smash/drop shot instead of clear, especially in doubles. In most case, when you do clear because you cannot smash or not in a good position to return the bird, that is why you do overhead clear and ready for defense. In short, to hit the bird in front of you, you need to have a good foot work first then you can choose to smash or clear. But if you cannot hit in front of you, overhead clear is still very important and should not say it is wrong.

You may get the pain by playing too much or you may have wrong hitting posture. Which ever, it is better to rest to recover and study your hitting skills to find out if your hitting skill may not right. Lee

Really helpful videos. I have one doubt . Is the neutral grip used only during defence because of lack of time to change from forehand to backhand when facing smashes. During attack can we always be ready with forehand grip ?
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 7 жыл бұрын
No that is not right. When you are ready for opponent shot, you must have ready grip. How do you know your opponent will hit clear? Other then opponent smashes you have time to change grip.

I am telling the truth and you may not like it or you may not agree but I think possibly what I say is right. You are not really hungry to win. Your anger/disapointment/negativeness is much greater then your will to win. When things goes wrong you have to get angry and loose your match. If you are really hungry to win then you will stay focus and find way to win. You msut stop it now otherwise you will do it all your badminton life. There is nothing to get angry or disappointed. If you make mistake it is you did it. Instead getting angry you must ready to practice more. If your opponent made good shot and you can not return then you should respect his good shot and challenge it to return it next time. There is no reason why you have to play well. Tell me why? Be happy that you can play badminton. There are many people can not forward to play. Be happy that you have good body so you can play badminton. There are many people who are disable to play badminton. Be happy that there are players who can play against you. If you do not have them, you can not play. Try to change your mind set to respect your opponet good shot and leanr from it. Be happy to find out what area you are not good and practice to get better. Remember the match you may play today is once in your life. Do not waste it. Tomorrow you do not know if you can play. I very much hope my words change the way you act on court. If I have said too strong please accept my apology. Lee
