Hello, thanks for awesome tips :) Do you think its necessary to specifically train the muscles involved in pronation of your arm for more power in your smash? E.g., pronator teres and pronator quadratus or will these muscles naturally get stronger as i play? (I picked up badminton 2 years ago im 26)
@BadmintonFamly5 жыл бұрын
For long term physical health, it seems like keeping our small muscles strong when they are used together with larger muscle groups such as rotator cuff. I don't think it is necessary to train the muscles involved in pronation of the forearm but definitely more beneficial

Could you please make video about where should racket face (in the initial phase of smash/clear? I mean, it is a mistake when racket head is rotated to the right, it should be pointed to the net/oponent ?
@BadmintonFamly6 жыл бұрын
Depends on your shoulder mobility and in case of having an extended wrist and neutral wrist, I am still figuring out all the benefits and downsides to both. But from what I can understand a extended wrist would ulitize the flexion of the wrist more whereas the neutral wrist would utilize the forearm pronation more. Men tends to have neutral wrist and also flexion in the wrist gives significant less power than forearm pronation. We can do both but not to the same extend for both. In terms of which way the racket head face I would have it face more towards the side with neutral wrist and shoulder retracted as much as possible meaning opening up the chest. Probably would do a high detailed analysis on this in the future 🙏

everytime I smash I hold the racket somehow to the side ways and it doesn’t seems to be powerful do I hold the racket upright?

You need to hit the shuttle as High as possible to generate more power as your swing then becomes bigger with more speed in the smash, good luck generating some good power smashes ;-) also use a power trainer (heavy racket) to strengthen your muscles. Regards Thomas

@@qeeloo9339, I personally vouch for the advice Rasmuss just gave you, I was using sooooo much arm swing to generate power in my smashes; only result was - waste of energy, landed out and non-steep trajectory of the birdie. THE MOMENT, i used forearm pronation instead of swining my arm like a wannabe, everything changed and power and steepness came like 2nd nature; granted it will take time to fully develop with accuracy but give it a shot, it truly is the key; NO WRIST FLEX, WRIST PRONATION INSTEAD.

You don't have to keep it high but keeping it high is a good habit for consistency and power. Also as we improve we want a smaller swing so our opponent cannot read our shots. Keeping racket low will change the pace of your swing up until the impact with the shuttle. Opponent will pick up on that
