The words that audiophiles use to describe sound always confuses me lol. “The 1408’s sound much more chocolatey on the highs, but they’re still a little salty. But in the mids is where you get the real meat. We’re talking beef, venison. No chicken. Lows are fantastic, just as on the other 14 series. Very deep, dark, and hit you like a Mack truck.”

It's kind of funny how he describes it. But Joshua Valour is better at explaining things, but still so confusing. To be honest, professional audiophiles talk like they're just talking to other professional audiophiles. And all of those newcomers for this, they'll be confused what these KZbinrs audiophiles are saying HAHAHA.

The 900X seems too good to be true : 45 ohm, open design, removable cable, sick design... That 4K edit was smoooooooooooooth and I really liked your attention to lightning in the edit. Excellent job ! EDIT: I must add I truly appreciated the way you tried different approach to compare both headphones between them, with their higher versions and with the competitors. It brings so many answers.

It kinda sucks for normal music listening. Very flat, and the highs are unbearable at high volumes. Dunno why he recommended these to normal people, it's designed for pro work, not for music listening. Could work for gaming, but any headphones work for gaming tbh. Just get cheaper ones.

@@paradoxic1888 I'm actually getting rid of my 900 Pro X's and upgrading to the 1990's, simply because the 900's(and 700's) suffer from a veil-like filtered effect that's masking the clarity or audio. This isn't the case with the DT770(250) and 1990's. they sound crystal clear. Sure, the 900's may offer a bit more soundstage, and are a little more open, spacious, warmer and a tinge fuller since they are technically semi-open back Vs closed, but it all becomes irrelevant to me because of that slight clarity masking veil-effect. Maybe there's a way to improve this with EQ settings? Ultimately, i think it's a toss up between the 770(250) & 900's. With the 1990's, they're even more open than the 900's, but with that crystal clear sound, stronger vocals and then some vs the DT770's. I'll take 8k treble spike. Balance pads plus proper EQ settings should mitigate the effect at least

It's very hard being a gamer and also of course like everyone else, listening to music, watching movies, whatever the case may be. Being one of these people who is tired of "gaming headphones" that are terrible quality. Then you enter the audiophile world and since the whole point of them is that they are professional, there is almost nothing about how they sound for gaming at all. Hard to get into for sure, shouldn't be this hard to choose a pair of headphones but it just is. Been looking at the DT 1770 Pro, DT 700 Pro X, a few others. 1770 Pro I've decided is just too aggressive, 700 Pro isn't as much but still without being able to try them out for myself it's impossible to know what is and isn't the right choice. I feel like there are many others in my situation that just go ahead and buy another "Gaming headphone" because they are overwhelmed by the audiophile world. I've been sitting on my same pair of headphones that are broken for some time now because I cannot find a viable replacement

A year later and for the same money I managed to snag a pair of HD600s a set that the Pro X is constantly found slightly worse than. Honestly there's nothing Beyhers does better than the 990 pro 250ohm for an all rounder and for specifics your just better off with other brands unless you have a thing for extra trebel on an otherwise unremarkable set.

Fantastic product review. Appreciate your "matter of fact", straight forward approach to the DT700 / 900 PRO X series. Wanted to upgrade from my Sennheiser's, both in closed and open back models. Hadn't experienced Beyerdynamic's before so I purchased "both" of these to assess which is best for my voice over production needs. WOW. Amazed with what I had been missing out on with this manufacturer. You were absolutely, 100% correct in your review and evaluations. The DT 700 PRO is extremely precise in it's closed back, highly detailed field and is wonderful for vocal recording and tracking. The DT 900 PRO is "exactly the same" in sound quality, but feels like you just entered an amphitheater concert staging area with it's detailed, open wide sound stage. Amazing. As a result, keeping "both" for different applications. These Beyerdynamic audio headphones are incredible in build and sound quality applications. More comfortable and better performing than the of my Sennheiser's. Thank you for your straight forward, honest evaluation. I certainly thought about purchasing the 1990's, but your honest evaluations let me know I am good with my purchase decision. Likewise, if anyone reviewing my comments has to make a purchase decision on either the DT700 or the DT900, get the DT900. You will never want to take them off your head. The open back sound stage is not too loose or "crazy open" to where you cannot get the job done with your recording needs. The DT700's are truly a audiophile recording and tracking work horse. Looking forward to more of your reviews. Thanks again. Subscribed + "All"

I got the 1900 and returned them. The highs were to sharp for me and EQ couldnt handle it in different situations. The soundstage was a real disappointment für me. It wasnt really wide and when listening to orchestral music i wasnt able to seperate a lot of instruments. Thats why i chose to return them and keep on listening on my AKG K712 Pros. I've tested multiple HD 5XX and HD6XX series of Sennheiser and i found had the DT 700 / 900 Pro really fills the gap between de HD 5XX and HD6XX series. I find the DT's compared to the HD6XX abit more closer in your face / head but lacks mid range compared to Sennheiser. Trebble is abit more harsh then the HD Series but not to much. The base has abit more punch. Soundstage of the 900 is better then my HD660S which says allot. Still my HD 660S has a higher fidelity. I think i gonna keep the DT 700 because its has its own signature compared to the HD 660S and because its closed back which i don't have yet. I also play instruments and the DT 700 is very nice as a monitor headphone and it will be my main daily driver. For me, I will choose the Sundara over the 900 Pro X. For a lot of reasons. But this is kind of difficult to drive, well you need another DAC/Amp for this to show the full potential of the Sundara. In most cases, the 900 Pro X will be your fit. Since it's just a 48-ohm headphone, you can plug it anywhere. You can plug it on an audio interface just working pretty fine. That said, just to make sure that you're audio interface's headphone amp's output impedance is low, like 3.00 below..This is important for a lot of long reasons.

Great review. I bought the 770 Pro 80 Ohms about 3 weeks ago thinking that Beyer would probably never update them and the 990 Pro. And then BOOM - they come up with the new 700 and 900 Pro X models. Ugh! I love my 770s. I love the sub-bass presence when it's in the music and the hint of it when it's not in the music. And I also happen to like that peaky treble as it adds space and clarity. Personally, I think that treble will only be a problem if you listen to music at ear-deafening volumes. But at lower to moderately loud volumes, it's no problem at all. Just my opinion, of course. Anyway, I love my 770 Pro 80 Ohms but now I'm wanting to upgrade to the 700s. But do I need to? And now, I'm thinking maybe the 900s might be good too. I use them only to listen to music. Hey there, After some time, did you think it was worth it to have a closed back good headphone next to the TYGRs? Sometimes, I think about it, but then don't pull the trigger on the DT770 80 Ohm's
@Relax-il7zn
@Relax-il7zn 10 ай бұрын
I have both the 990 and 900. The 900 sounds closer to a semi open back/closed headphone imo. The 990 feels much more open and wide. The 990 also sounds more detailed. But the 900 sounds more full. Music wise if you prefer fine detail and wider soundstage I think 990 is better. But if you can sacrifice a tiny bit of detail and openness for more full sound and slightly more bass, then 900 is better. Gaming wise 990 is more detailed in terms of precise soundstage. The 900 is decent, but in apex for example a lot of times I can tell that someone is in a 10m area based of the sound I hear. Rarely do I know the exact spot they really are. The 990 however most of the time I can tell exactly where they are. I've seen a few reviews making it sound like the 900 is better than the 990 on that aspect and I don't find it to be true at all. However a good dac/amp is required. I originally used the 990 on a soundblaster x4 and thought it was just okay. Then with the ifi zendac v2, it sounded much more detailed. The 900 sounded the same on the x4 and the zendac. Just good. Not special for gaming.

Good bass, and mids. Even has sub-bass. The highs are more detailed on the k702's, but that might be fixed with a break in period and some adjustments. The sub-bass on the 702's is almost non-existent, and the bass was always lacking. I was shocked how good the 900x's sound out of the box. I'm keeping these. They're amazing.

I find the DT's compared to the HD6XX abit more closer in your face / head but lacks mid range compared to Sennheiser. Trebble is abit more harsh then the HD Series, but not to much. The base has abit more punch. Soundimaging of the 900 is better then my HD 660S which says allot. Still my HD 660S has a higher fidelity picking up details and crisp sounds. I think i gonna keep the DT 700 because its has its own signature compared to the HD 660S and because its closed back which i don't have yet. Im testing the Tygr, MMX 300 and the 900 Pro X at the moment and I can say the 900 Pro X would be the best for FPS.. better imaging and details to listen.. but, BUT ! this crispy high details can be annyoing in long gaming sessions because its more of an analytical hearing, you realise every sound all the time and that can be stressfull.. and the 900 pro x are more uncomfortable in long session, it feels like a head pressure. The Tygr 300 are MUCH more comfortable for gaming the sound is more relaxing, more warm but also a very nice imaging and soundstage for gaming. When youre more into games, especially in FPS then go with the Tygr 300, you can locate your enemy, footsteps, shootings and all this stuff as good as the Pro X, just more relaxed.. i like both very much, the Tygr 300 and the Pro X and i also have to make a decission because i love competitive fps gaming and i think the 900 pro x is not worth the extra cost when it comes to gaming.. Its made to work with music and sounds what its named for.. for the studios ! and thats exactly what i can confirm.. @badseedtech
@badseedtech 2 жыл бұрын
Fast means that a note hits, and then it recovers and hits again. You feel this mostly in the low end. Think of a kick drum. Rap/EDM may have an 808 thump that trails off. Like a big BOOOMMMMmmmm. Now think of like a double kick drum on a metal track. Really fast, tight drum hits. If a headphone isn't fast, it means it can't really "keep up" with stuff like that.

How do they compare to your new LCD-X's?

They lack the sub bass extension and the highs run a touch hotter, but they're overall very comfortable. Listening to something like this really reinforces the idea of diminishing returns.

Great video, the TYGR is def a hidden gem. It's my daily driver even if it's not as detailed or technical as my Sundara. With a small amount of EQ, the TYGR is really great for Music as well.

I've wanted Tygrs for like a year, but I cant order directly from beyer to get just the headphones, thats only for select countries. but they sure do sell the bundle here. Its messed up. If anyone at beyer is reading this... just offer to sell the damn headphones by themselfes to everyone everywhere and Ill gladly buy them. I dont give a flying heck about the microphone, maybe some do, but Im not the only one who is flustered about the forced bundle. team tygr bundle, thats a hard pass for me.

They do sell them alone. I just bought them.

@@christopherdiaz5846 and where do you live? My point is its not sold on its own evrywhere. It is some places. I'm in Norway and no local stores sell them unbundled. Cant order directly from beyer eu either, they specify only a handful of countries they ship to and Norway aint one. And Norway aint the only one either. Reddit and various forums have posts where this issue is brought up by people who have no option to order them by themselfes from local stores or beyer directly. And that is silly in my opinion.

Good to know that the 770's are better for gaming. I bought these last year and now I saw these new ones and fortunately don't have to upgrade
