Handled like a true pro, pushing through not one, but two penalties and still battling through a marathon in the brutal Kona heat is an inspiration in itself. Great video and well said!

Best post yet Daniel. Your authenticity gave voice to all of our frustrations and pain. Thank you. There's no way around the fact that it just f-ing sucks that some third-rate official - who has no clue about what goes into your preparation or that you put food on the table through this sport - makes a s--- call. We MUST overhaul the officiation at the pro level. We must review calls. They must send the video back to a booth where a group of serious people review it BEFORE a call is made. I"m an age-grouper. Want to give us a penalty on the spot? Fine. But the pros. No. Things must change and maybe you can be an advocate for that. Rumi once said, "our wounds are where the light shines in." Take this and shine brighter my man.

Aaaww it sucks but sometimes you lose, sometimes the others win. Your time will come. Remember the current winner Patrick had a drought for nearly 10 years before he hit it big with winning Kona the 1st time. Getting there is a journey that requires immense effort and patience. You will get there. You have to tell yourself every day.

5 min is way too long, especially for a Pro race. So hard to get your body back to peak output after standing around for 5 min. How can we change this rule? Especially when the age groupers are always bunched up together with no penalties given. Way to push through Daniel.

Daniel, can I tell you something? Three years ago - I was 55 at the time - I made my "comeback" after 2 sabbatical years. I told some club members that my goal was to qualify for the Sprint Triathlon World Championships in 2023. One of the club members laughed at me, right in my face, and said that I would never succeed. Well... in 2023 I was at the start of the Sprint World Championships in Hamburg. I was so angry with that guy. A few months ago I ran into him and actually shouted at him "f*ck you *ssh*l*". In 2025 I will try to qualify again (M60) and also start in the T100 London. Let them laugh. It immediately gives me more energy. Go for it Daniel.

So were the drafting penalties bullshit? All the pros had Race Ranger, if it flashed red you were in the illegal draft zone, so you can see yourself you are drafting. Sounds a bit like you are upset not that you were drafting, but you got caught and no one else? Would love to hear more about it. Not having a go or anything, just curious how you interpret this with the new Race Ranger and if other athletes were drafting too.
@louisjs5442 ай бұрын
at 4:00 it's going uphill but you can see at least two race rangers flashing red
@mitch_wies2 ай бұрын
There were plenty of lights flashing all day on the bike. But there are some factors that came into play here that’s not so black and white. But he’s not going to speak out about them due to harsh repercussions from Ironman. As he said, he doesn’t agree with the penalties, so that should answer your question about if he was just upset he got caught and no one else did.
@davidgagen98562 ай бұрын
Selective policing is the problem here. It's a blight on the race. Ignoring whole groups obviously drafting raises serious questions about the integrity of the race.
