It also has *really* strange properties as an anti-air, since it leans her hitbox forward and down quite a bit, a lot of frontal jump-in attacks will cross over it (causing them to whiff if the button has no cross-up properties), and hitting them behind you. The knockback will actually push them *into* you from the V-skill, leading to some interesting juggle opportunities. (For example: Light stock -> EX Fuha, H-Fuha -> EX fuha, or my personal favorite, L.DP into CA)... I only tested this on Ken's J-MK and J-HK, so I'm certain there are a lot of characters with long air normals that this doesn't work on (Poison and Birdie come to mind),

I'm with you there on V-Skill 1, if you can somehow get a fully charged one then it basically gives you the ability to punish back jumps or whiffs from anywhere on the screen: Particularly against characters who have moves that are very minus but put them far away on block like Blanka ball. I kinda wish it was safe on block when fully charged though, it's not like you could spam it out and it would be able to make medium and heavy fuha safe like VS2 can.

It suffers from the issue LK fireball did pre-AE sadly: if people backrise after you try to throw it out midscreen off HK fuha, they're out of range and don't have to deal with it at all. Much like her VT1 fireballs, the damage output is extremely limited due to it forcing a juggle on hit, so much any mixups you might do with it will result in very humble damage. And then we of course have the usual issue of having to forfeit momentum to reuse it. One weird thing also is that if Juri is hit while the vskill fireball is out, the vskill fireball ceases to exist altogether. I was primarily hoping that this would work so that she can meaty with it and recover in time herself to block any wakeup reversals. You kind of need to use HK fuha to do that though, as I tried after usual corner combo enders like MP DP and Ryo, and she gets hit by slower DPs even. Worries me that people can reaction reversal it if you try to meaty with it, since the startup is pretty telegraphed and now it shows people in the corner when you have it stored. As a neutral tool I think it's completely worthless. LK fireball exists. It's faster to store, faster to come out, lasts longer, better in every way. Why would I use a slower worse thing? I still dig it since it lets you build meter, tacks a bit of extra damage, and VS1 felt fairly useless in a lot of matchups. It's an option at least. And it's fun to lab setups. You can combo into forward jump TC in the corner and get some weird interactions on which side Juri lands on, or crossup with DP on their wakeup with some setups.

Juri's biggest issue is just being a character that has to install every single useful skill she has. Either one of two things needed to happen to her CE. Either buff the usefulness of all her special moves or just get rid of the damn charge. Then we can live with the charge for V-Skill. That way she can go into Fuha attacks to charge VS1 or 2 any time she wants if she wants to sack Oki
@kevingriffith60115 жыл бұрын
Honestly just more ways to combo into stock would be enough, IMO. Right now we really only have "jab jab stock" or "target combo stock DP" or "anti-air normal stock". This leads to a lot of "run away and build stocks" play that really hurts the character in the long run.

Can anyone fill me up here? Why is there a separate bar next to her V gauge?
@Bafael3 жыл бұрын
That's a mechanic unique to Juri. Basically she has 3 separate versions of a special move she can "charge" and "release." She'd have an infinite if she could just do them freely so all three of them have to be recharged whenever you use them. They also make her combos somewhat complex and quite powerful, but the need to sacrifice time/pressure to store them hurts her ability to play neutral.
@JasonYJS_xoxo3 жыл бұрын
@@Bafael So, it means that if all the 3 moves are used, she can still recharge them, right? Forgive me because I don't own the game

Without the charge, it would’ve been the perfect cover to charge your fuha stocks. Why her fireballs worked in SF4 was because each fireball can be used as cover to charge one another. On top of that, they gave Juri the plus frames on block she normally doesn’t have. Not having a “cover” move in SFV, except for the lone light fuha fireball, is what really makes Juri’s gameplan such an unintuitive chore. By comparison, Ibuki has her kunais already charged up at the start of the match and can do a fast refill with EX. Ibuki’s VS2 even provides an actual “cover” move too. VS1 still seems superior due to gaining an appropriately insane move for the charge time, even for non-fireball characters. It can be used to whiff punish many normals and neutral and back jumps from full screen.
@BlueLightningSky5 жыл бұрын
SFIV was also a slower and more set up focused game to begin with. Where sweeps and throws both cause hard knockdowns
@OccuredJakub125 жыл бұрын
Juri's Fireballs in IV were also balanced by the fact that, when charged up, they took away her access to all of her most powerful kick normals and specials. When SFV came out, I wished to Godd they would just keep them as they were, but not demand you to hold and release the buttons for them, only a second button press. Instead, this Juri is a completely new, baffling and bad character

@waterspinach31455 жыл бұрын
I think VS1 is way better, charged VS1 is a good threat to the opponent as any unsafe whiff or jump will likely be punished if Juri player has decent reaction time. Here decent reaction I mean, when Juri player saw the opponent is doing something at a distance, for example, fireball, release charged VS1 immediately to punish them. The only thing need to be careful is Guile's VS1 which recover quickly so some experienced Guile player will lure Juri to use VS1 and then Guile blocked your VS1 and punish you. Same to Sagat because his fireball also recover quickly so don't use at too far.
@Rocwell5 жыл бұрын
Yea basically take Vs1 for matchups against zoners and Vs2 for mus where you don't need it. That said her flip kick can punish fireballs just fine so you gain more utility and a safe way to build v gauge.
@kevingriffith60115 жыл бұрын
Flip-kick can be kind of hairy against some projectiles, since unless you've got a really good read on your opponent or are spending meter you can actually go over a projectile too late and get blocked. Still, it's workable enough that you don't suffer that much from not having VS1, and I do like the utility that VS2 brings once you're in.

The thing that annoys me the most with this V-Skill that is takes so long to charge, 53 which is actually pretty long unlike you said in your video. I think the startup on it is also a little slow, but this V-Skill definitly has some uses for her in most non fireball MUs. You can make medium and heavy fuha safe with it and it will trade with 3 framers and beat 4 framers, which is a decent mixup when the opponent is scared to punish Juri's medium and heavy fuha (especially cause medium fuha into light fuha is interruptable, while with V-Skill it isn't). It's also actually quite a decent AA against cross up jumps, the back hitbox of this is actually crazy! V-Skill 1 is still prefered in most MUs though

I don't rate v-skill 2 very highly, having to charge it blows for the payoff you get. With v-skill 1 the ability to dash cancel out early or just let go and instantly attack make it much safer when charging. And not only are you giving up a great long range whiff punish tool, but you also give up an easy light confirmable side switch for not that much payoff by taking v-skill 2. I don't see the attraction.

Her fireballs have REALLY good frame data compared to most fireballs and they're also somewhat combo friendly. Also she can use them to make other combos safe, such as any qcf HK, which would be very strong if she can use them infinitely.

It's important to note that this move might not charge until near the very end of your charge animation. This means if you get hit while charging you might not actually have the charge which can lead to you charging in front of your opponent if you think you actually charged.
