I could be wrong but I don't remember this being available last season. But LP claw change allows for M.Roll and EX.Roll which didn't combo before. This gives more options for combos and EX usage in Claw.

Claw is still not a good character, probably the worst now since every other bottom-tier was given more substantive buffs (e.g. Ed). He’s going to stay bottom-tier since his changes are not what he actually needed. Sky High Claw (“SHC”) cross-up is gimmicky day one tech that will lose efficacy when people have time to learn and has no mindgame since he jumps higher up the wall when doing Barcelona unless Vega is next to the wall he’s rebounding from. SHC combos only work in the corner and puts Vega into the corner without VT1 and the scaling. The left/right mix-up is easy to react to. The VT1 changes are meh because many of the new mix-ups are easy to react to. The new VT1 combo routes are not worth it in general due to being meter heavy for low damage. Capcom should just admit they’re still upset about how busted Claw is in ST and CvS2 and are making him terrible on purpose.

@@triplemardito notice that zoning characters who use their actual limbs to attack are doing terrible in a game with crush counters? I know the idiocy of poison's hitboxes exists, but its nothing compared to changing the fact that Vega's claw is no longer its own hitbox.

You have NO idea how to play vega if you think his new walldive isnt good. its an insane crossup mixup into a 2 guess game with V trigger and 2 bars

@@pkyy9269 Yes his Vtrigger really amps up the stress your opponent has to deal with when it comes to getting hit with the wall dive, but the anti air options are much more effective against him even with the highest jump. Look to the Laura matchup for proof, that elbow vacuums you in from quite a distance. He's always had the crossup mixup in fact It used to be way easier to avoid an autocorrect Dp as well.

Does Sky High Claw not move horizontally at different levels (heights) for low, medium and hard buttons as in SF5? If not, what's the difference between LK, MK, HK versions?

I didn't actually say in the video lol. Yes they're all the same height. There doesn't seem to be any difference for versions

I think they reduced to scaling on single use V Triggers like Nash VT1 and Vega's from 20% to 10%. I think you forgot to mention that, but it's a minor buff imo. I wish they would just give Vega more reliable anti-airs and better oki. That's really all he needs imo. These buffs are nice but certainly not what he needs to be viable

They only applied that VT1 scaling buff to Nash's VT1, not anyone else.

Only nash got this but vega being able to use vt1 more freely allows him to get similar results with the new combo routes in terms of damage potential

Regarding your point about better anti airs - I believe thats intentional. Every character has strengths and weaknesses. If he had better AAs he'd be too good.

I think the new vs/vt mix and matching potential will be pretty nice for Vega. You can super out of vs2 and it is frame 1 invulnerable, so it is almost like he has a wake up super finally lol

@@dreadedsage8630 Air to airs require a much faster reaction than regular anti-airs, and Vega's defense is already weak up close.

@@pon3d120 Yo I'm a silver player, can I get some advice? If my opponent jumps at me and is about to cross me up and I walk forward but it's not enough for me to get under in time to punish, should I dash under? Or should I try to walk back more and then anti air? I'm playing Gill btw no crosscut DP

Sadly I think this late into the game's lifespan it's clear that they don't want to give him a real anti-air, and they can and will give any excuse they want about not doing it too such as "it'd make him OP" or "wouldn't fit our gameplay intention". At the end of the day, it boils down to "we don't want a repeat of ST/A3/CVS2 Vega" or "Woshige hates Vega".

@@dreadedsage8630 dash under is good, with gill u might get dHP as a punish, but it requieres very good reaction. Better to just anti air, but u will often have to use a specific move for it (pretty sure gill can use bHK)

It is still useful against projectile spammers, sure vs2 is better overall, but vs1 still has uses

He just needs a proper reversal move and better hitbox with his standing claw fierce. Everything else is gimmicky

So they have given characters new moves this season and Zangief only got some nigh-useless counter in Season 2 which got a replaced command plus no Green Hand even to date... Sorry to whine but Vega/Claw seems to show some of that spark that is missing from other Season 5 improvements particularly as he has a decent V Skill 2 plus a returning old move. I'd accept Green Hand as a Skill over a command but we didn't get it in 5 seasons... Though his Focus Attack Donkey Kick looks hype.

When he has his claw I wish roll went into a claw. Ending in that flip kick is pointless. When I first saw it, I thought it was over had thought it was one. It would be a buff for him. They should have made it an over head.

This patch won't salvage the character and Capcom refuses to acknowledge his glaring weaknesses. I'll just wait until SFV passes on and hope that VI is better. I am tired of being disappointed every season.
