Why did you leave the island? How welcoming is that place for a foreigner?
@brennuswhite18453 жыл бұрын
@@chirulucian4284 Well, depends on the place. Maps tend to skew its height, but Baffin island is actually quite large. Iqaluit, the capital city of nunavut and the biggest city on the island and in the territory, is fine with foreigners for the most part. If you're going to go there though, you're likely going to be culture shocked. Things aren't great there, and there's a large homeless population in some parts. Also, just so you know, things in stores cost double what they do in most places, if not triple.

That's not even the big one there. Baffin has THE biggest vertical cliff in the world. It gets jumped also.

you've given me the inspiration to keep going on the base jumping journey. 140 skydives feels like slow progress but i'll make it one day. keep it up, thats truly something beautiful

Holy shit man..! What an absolutely Jaw Dropping small movie that was..? It just grabbed a hold of me & dragged me into watching it all & with unadulterated attention.. An Astonishingly stunning piece of work for sure.. Well done all involved.. And from an armchair POV. I was so ready to leap.. Though from a real life POV.. I'd be markedly skeptical lol 😂

Epic! That's serious dedication. I thought sleeping on a roof waiting for pre dawn or climbing a ladder for 3 hrs was commitment ;-) but you guys took it to another level. Kudos! That environment is not forgiving... Much respect

Only in Canada!! The world's highest vertical - mount Thor - 4,100 ft or 1.25 kilometers. Climb it, one of the world's remotest peaks - then base jump it! Awesome music and theme with this video. ❤

On this first trip to Baffin my wife bought me a Grape Soda badge - www.etsy.com/au/listing/120370325/replica-ellie-badge-grape-soda-pin - anyone familiar with the film UP would know it's significance. I wore it on every jump. On my next trip a year later (2019) Harvey, one of the Inuit who was on the recovery attempt in 2010, took me to the bottom of French Touch where I embedded the badge in the granite at the base where it meets the Fjord. Harvey showed me thru the rifle-scope where Jimmy lays. Jimmy was a good friend and his accident was a sobering reminder that kept a lot of us safe and conservative. He rests in one of the most beautiful parts of this planet. RIP friend. G.

Sure.... First and Last jump is Ottawa. The 3-way is Kiguti. Sam Ford Fjord is 74 deg north. Temp's in late April were -40 min to -16 deg C max. I'm just an old-skool tracker who can barely track for shit. Check out some sick tracks from Simon here vimeo.com/270394470

Practiced tracking while skydiving, tilted my head bout an inch and lost my track, went straight down. So I'm learning. You guys straight killed it. Beautiful locale, and I dig whoever was in the gray, how he just sorta jumped off, not immediately tracking, that shit was real. Anyway, thanks for sharing brother, and thank you for your reply. Sam Ford Fjord is about 60 NM NW of Clyde River and jumping her IS PERFECTLY LEGAL - *** WE ARE NOT IN THE PARKS *** WE ARE NOT IN THE PARKS *** WE ARE NOT IN THE PARKS *** The police, government and local Inuit communitites have our blessing, support and encouragement.
