Chase doesn't have any competition here, I don't think. That dude makes really awesome videos. I saw the Kletterwerks on the site, and they look pretty great. I don't have a goruck yet, but perhaps one day.

Chase is really changing the game with his bag reviews. Ive been harassing him about reviewing mystery ranch bags for awhile now. They are a lesser known brand but the guy behind them Dana Gleeson is an absolute legend when it comes to the design of backpacking bags and he translates all that goodness to bags for other uses. Im trying to remain calm about bag buying. I definitely want to try an evergoods bag...but it starts to get to be like...i cant use all these bags at once lol. Do you do one bag travel?

The "elasticy things' on the shoulder straps are for clipping stuffing onto the shoulder straps. Like a Hydration hose, for example...

That's what I thought, but this isn't a bag that really lends itself to hydration set-ups. The hose would have to exit the bag through the top-center of the back, and that's kinda weird.

Yeah, it'd be silly to make different ones for different packs. And I'm sure that there are people who have found good uses for them that weren't strictly intended.

Those do look sweet, but I've never used one. My backpacks are all pretty big, actually. This is probably the smallest one I have. I use a Nomatic quite a bit, and that's pretty slim, but I wouldn't call it "small".

That little elastic strap on the on the shoulder strap is so you can take the piece it’s on off. Underneath the strap there is a metal pin, and if you take the tension off of the pin you can lift if up and remove that piece so that you don’t have the cross strap.

Love a good bag. If you're looking for any review suggestions, check out the North Face Access 02 backpack. Pretty cool top opening pack and it has an interesting mechanism. It's on my backpack wishlist.

Can you measure the maximum width of laptop layer? My laptop is 10.4 inches. Don't know if it fit that. I would really appreciate that if you can help me!!

Hi, my urban assault 18l is a bit different from what I see from the mystery ranch website. My bag doesn't have the mystery ranch logo on the bottom of one of the shoulder straps. Another thing is my bag has a slit at the bottom of the back padding where a waist belt can be slipped through. Apart from those two things, everything is the same. I bought it from someone who bought it from a retailer. Did I just buy a knock off? Is there even a mystery ranch knock off?

You have the new version that comes in 2 sizes, 18 or 21 liters.

yup MR released a new 18l urban assault. that's probably what triggered the sale for the original 21l version, which retails for just 99 bucks at huckberry. i'm torn between getting the 18l or the 21l, since most of the time, your stuff's just going to fall to the bottom and the additional height is just wasted airspace.
