Bagged an eBay bargain & my Accurascale 66 died on camera! 😭 Liberty Junction Ep53

Aup folks this episode was going to focus around a bargain I grabbed on eBay but as you’ll see the focus switched to my Accurascale 66 that went pear shaped mid film!
As I always say thanks a million to all my subscribers, and thanks to everyone that watches my videos, if you haven’t subscribed please consider doing so, I like my subscribers quite a bit more than my none subscribers I almost love them, not quite love but better than friends😆
Thanks to the commenters and folk that share these on, they’re intended as light hearted entertainment, some are absolute crackers some a bit more serious. I love the model railways, I love filming them going about their business and I love chatting about them. No one in my house is interested in listening to me chat about them, hence I chat to you guys. Feel free to ask any questions.
The intention of this channel is to come at a different angle from the usual and do my own thing which may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
It gets me some peace up here in the loft though so I’ll keep it going. I only have a small fleet as they’re all the new sound fitted models and it’s a new hobby so don’t expect a different loco in each video. Hope you like this one, cheers! Dave

Yes you got a bargain with the container flats. I havnt been too impressed with Accurascale as one of my 37s had a buffer short. That was a right pelarva to get sorted . Blood out of a stone comes to mind .All run well but I do prefer Bachmann as they just seem more rugged to me and the bits dont fall off. 🤣

Great video, once again. That Accurascale didn’t come out of it well though. I hope they can sort it. Some absolutely stunning shots, multiple trains running, great close ups and you did get an absolute bargain. Next time there’s a big show on I’m gonna be hitting the eBay auctions!

As someone that's always bought 2nd hand starting 2 years ago I can definitely confirm that the pricing for 2nd hand has definitely gone up by around £20 in that 2 years. Makes sense, new models are too expensive for mere mortals 😂, as a result demand has increased considerably from when I started. I have the evidence, w years ago I paid on average £25-30, and now a bid of £30 is unlikely to win unless it's a poor model. Tends to be £50-60 now will win.

Great bargains Dave. Shame about the 66, I had a 37 go funny. Sent it back. Now fixed, but sound very quiet. Great video.

Thanks, it’s a shame you’ve lost some volume they sound brilliant as delivered, I lowered mine a bit due to the known issue but didn’t go too low. Hopefully the 66 comes back perfect 🤞

Yeah, there are still some bargains to be had on eBay. You just have to choose & bid carefully, as you did. I bagged a DCC Ready Bachmann Hall class, full working order, for £35. I picked up an Accurascale Manor in their sale. Couldn't resist. Neither could I resist that Kernow 47. Oh, and a Heljan 57 for £90-odd from Rails was just unmissable. Excellent video. Hope the 37 gets to Proper Chuffed in one piece.

Oh Dear DoD! Funnily enough my 92 started slowing down, speeding up and the current draw shooting up like a NASA space rocket, couldn’t be arsed to send it back again to Accurascale for repair, got a new motor from them and swapped it over, runs fine for now 🫣 following on from your 47 bargain I’ve bought the kernow RfD sound fitted Tinsley Traction Depot version along with some other bits, so many bargains out there and if only they were at these sensible prices in the first place they’d sell so much more, gonna wait till the next winter sales to buy anything from now on 😂 all the best mate, cheers Darrell 😊👍

Ah mate get it on a video so I can see what could have been. Really like that Tinsley one, still might grab it if it’s still around anywhere. I held off more accurascale coal wagons even though they were amazing price I’m completely out of space on mine now and can’t be arsed taking things in and out of boxes

@@doubleodaveit’s not too bad a job to swap over to be honest, body comes off easily, unplug everything, de solder the motor wires , undo pcb screws and the motor fixing plates and the motor pops out easily, easy for a man of your skills and a black Porsche! 🤣👍

Sympathies on the failed motor. It seems an issue for almost all the manufacturers at some point and not just UK brands. I think the worst one I had was 2 hrs on a £300 Roco BR108 (German), sent it back to Austria for repair, 5 months later it comes back, lasted 30 mins same again. Roco then refused to honour the warranty! At least companies like Hornby, Accurascale, Bachmann etc stand on and get stuff fixed. Bargain container flats! Love the idea of taking an angle grinder to real rolling stock to make it look like a model… I think it could catch on 👍👍🤣

Hylton's locomotive has finger power, and the brown color (colour) is in honor of Tupac and Biggie. I think the plastic explosive bomb is fine now that you cut the red wire. Great buy on the flats but you just had to tease us car counters didn't you why I ought a! LOL. The Accurascale 66 is running on a special lemon juice that can only be filled by an OEM rep so back it goes. Your post workers must be like our DMV (Division of Motor Vehicle) workers here in the states where they hate the job and the people they deal with, so don't think they are singling you out it is everyone, lol. Does the word color come up misspelled for you like colour does for me here in the states? Just wondered, sg (slight giggle). Great video, Jersey Bill

New wagons bargains Dave. So glad I stuck with Bachmann. They all look and run great especially the 47's, 24's the 37's don't sound as good as the AS. But will get Richard at Roads and Rails to fit better quality speakers. Only exception been two 37's that were really noisy runners. Groaning etc particularly on the rad 2 bends. Luckily 1 self healed, and is fine now. The other despite being continually put on the naughty step, (put in draw) has got abit quieter but has now found a new way to wind me up, buy having phases of stoping exactly at one spot on the layout that none of the others do. Last night I felt sorry for it. So let him out to play. Run it backwards and forwards over the spot that causes it panic attacks. ( I can joke about this ailment, as I suffer this too - b4 someone complains) Guess what, no issues ran great, for about 10 mins then back to misbehaving. Wouldn't go over this spot again. Was nearly going to do a Basil Faulty, thrashing it with a tree branch. But resisted. P.s. nice tip for alternative class 47 horn sounds. Hate the standard droany ones. That I've never heard on the real ones. Cheers

The Magic Finger.. (Soo many things wrong with that statment) nice 37 though. Shame it is heading to Africa.. Deepest.. Darkest I suppose. I havn't had any problems with any of my Accurascales (YET) but I know some who have had. Motor problems, seem to stem from the CV settings. which could also be from the Chip set. Hope they sort yours out for you, I wont be buying anymore until I see the Class 50 land.. Been waiting way too long for it now.. Anyway, great Video dave(as if you had managed to put a bad one out yet) you know how to banter, and lift a smile..

@doubleodave the price gets hyped up on Ebay and Amazon. You can always get a far better deal by going direct to the factory 🏭. On another note, the Dylington Christmas scene is coming along nicely. Hopefully, we'll soon be able to add the Christmas lights 😁👍

Check out Peter at Torridon Road. His 37 did the exact same thing as your 66. My 37 did too. Check your running amps as is should be much higher than normal. It is a motor problem. Accurascale sent me a new motor

That’s because I’m a bugger for grabbing the trains and dragging them about with my hands, I forget that the containers are loose and then sometimes don’t put them back on properly, the bloke that stands near to the stacks of wood near to the quarry has a job to make sure they’re straight so I’ll dock his wages. I feel like Scrooge now but I’m not having people slacking 👍 cheers for pointing it out though, no turkey on his table this year 😆

Hi Dave guess what you're not the only one. My 66 went exactly the same, motor knackered. Sent it back and got a new motor fitted, so far so good. However 1 of my 37s has gone back for the third time with the same problem and my 92 is showing signs of ghe same problem. I think accurascale need to have a good look at their motors. Anyway lifetime guarantee means they can go back. BTW it's free postage to accurascale. All you do is contact them and they send you a link to get free postage that can be printed by you or the post office. Email before sending back, get your free postage. Anyway enjoyed the video and at least you got a bargain with those flat wagons cheers Andy

Ah that sounds good to know that it got sorted - not so good to know that you’ve had a fair few go wrong. Like you say - I’d be looking to change my motor supplier, it can’t be cheap replacing duds! I’ll give them an email 👍
