Thank you so much for uploading this movie! I had watched this movie as a little child on Doordarshan and do not recollect much except the last scene and was searching the movie elsewhere. I had forgotten even the name, but an article on the great director Late Buddhadev Dasgupta, in an Assamese daily brought back memories alive and I began to search for the film by its name and voila! today I found it. Its a tragedy that the golden age of cinema has withered away and we are compelled to watch movies lacking depth in story and acting skills.

The narrative apparently revolves around a conflict between traditional folk art and shabby but dazzling commercial entertainment. But it moves beyond that and portrays the eternal struggle of art, which is a reflection of life itself, against power. As Hemingway said, a man can be destroyed but not defeated. The spirit of man never dies. The movie is an ode to the unconquerable spirit of life and it's unyielding struggle against power.

I also remember this movie....DD used to telecast it on saturday evenings....a short masterpiece indeed....its director Buddhadeb Dasgupta..a five time national film award winner is an auteur in his own right...even better than Ray...
