Baguette! The AMR 35 will be my next project

The 1/6 Strv 105 will still be upgraded with sound and effects, but I couldn't keep myself from starting the next project. This time, things will be a bit simpler, but also bigger. Or will they?
The Renault AMR 35 is a small and light reconnaissance tank and I have always liked its proportions and design. In 1/4 scale, it will be around 960 mm - just a bit larger than my 1/6 Scimitar or m/39.
I really look forward to this project and hope I will get the opportunity to work on it, despite our little boy taking most of the focus right now.

Good afternoon, Eric, yesterday I took another look at the photos of the parts you recently made. Then I watched this video again. I know the AMR 35 is quite small; you refer it to a sports car in size. Then, I went back to the tank encyclopedia to see it's actual size. OMG, our Honda Odyssey is much bigger than the AMR 35. I searched on youtube to see if there are any videos of the tank in action, and I didn't find any. But what I did find was like a video slide show presentation of the Hotchkiss H39. The H39 came out shortly after the AMR 35; it;s slightly larger in size, but like the AMR 35, it wasn't a very good tank. The H39 was used for a short time by Israel in 1948. There's one remaining H39 that's preserved at Latrun, and there's a photo of it next to a Merkava. Oh how small it really is!!! His build takes me back to my younger days when I restored a couple of 1st Gen Mustangs. I wish I still had one of them. Oh well, I enjoy doing that type of work. One question to you is, are the tires for the AMR 35 road wheels made out of rubber? I had seen a thread at RCU of a guy that 3DP'ed rubber tracks for 1 1/16 scale M3 half Track. 3D printers have come a long way since they were first introduced. Hi! Haha, yeah, it sure is small! Less than a meter in 1/4 scale, it's incredible. That was some interesting photos and info in that video, thanks a lot! 👍 The picture of the H39 next to the Merkava was hilarious. The wheels on my model are printed with black filament to simulate rubber. I have a version with just the rim as well, to be able to make molded rubber or silicone wheels. TPU would probably make good rubber-ish wheels, but I have yet to try that filament. 😊

Hi! Yeah, the 103 is a super cool tank. It's not on the build list right now, but a friend of mine made one in 1/5 scale, with real gas turbine engine. It's featured in several of my videos. 😊

I used a 4-view picture and drawings I found online, scaled them to 1/4 using Photopea and used them as background template in FreeCad. Plus lots of reference pictures to see how and where things are placed.

Eric, how do you print a Freecad project on paper? I made a drawing in 1/14 scale in Freecad but when I print it it is smaller than the real one. I can't print it at the right size. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi, when I find a drawing or blueprint online, I always scale it to the right size using Photopea. I can then print the scaled drawing on paper or use it as a background in FreeCad. Edit: so the drawing printed on paper comes from a online picture, not from FreeCad. 😊

FreeCad har sina begränsningar och är lite styltigt ibland men när man väl lärt sig det funkar det bra. 🙂 Påminner lite om Catia, vilket jag hade lite koll på sedan innan, så det har gått rätt bra att komma in i det under de här åren.
