On 23 January, 2022, Baidit (Angakuei) was attacked by cattle raiders from Pibor county. These bad elements came in the afternoon from different direction and storm the village with machine guns and light. They raided thousand of cattle and attack left 32 people dead, including women and children. It was unprovoked attack and it left many people shocked in Jonglei State and in South Sudan as a whole. This is another kind of conflict along side the on going political violence that needs to be addressed too. Cattle raiding in a common practice among cattle keeping communities in South Sudan, but should be brought to end to experience peace again in the land. I work for peace and hope if we work collectively, it can become history.

Cattle worship should be stoped. People of South Sudan should say hey why are we losing our sons, husbands and children just because of cows, a humans life is way more important than a cow's. It is so sad to see that humans are gone and their cattle remains

Thanks for your comment. Well, they don't worship them as you think, they are source of food and economic activity for them. They die defending their properties just like you would do if your house is attacked by some bad people with intention to rob you. If you are hurt, we can not say you worship money, house, or any valuable item in the house. You will understand it better if you compare it with major economic activity practice in your community and then some people comes to destroy or steal from you. The problem is not cattle, it is the attitude of the people who thinks stealing is a good thing. I can agree with you if you call for the modernization of cattle rearing like its done in Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Europe, and even America. I can also agree with you if you say rule of law and restriction of cows to certain areas to avoid encroaching farms, etc. I have travel the world and I know legal frame work managing cattle farms and other agricultural practices. Millions of people depend on them and its not something that can be stopped because government is unable to stop thieves.

@Jacob Aluong Exactly, these people didn't die because they were at fault. No on the contrary they died because they had to protect themselves, their families and their way of life,It doesn't matter how petty it's, your property is your property and you can protect it at all cost but they shouldn't have to fend for themselves when we say we have laws and a government that's supposed to protect innocent civilians and properties.

you do not know what you're talking about, every community has something that they value, in the west it is money, and in our Nilotic community is castles, so think before you write mister.
