Bailing Hay The Basics [ Part Three ] | The Farm Wolf

In this video, I show the basics of baling hay with an International 1086 diesel tractor and a New Idea 486 open chamber hay baler. I talk about the differences in a round bale made in an open chamber baler compared to a non open chamber constant tension baler. Hi Mike, Enjoyed the video. I have NewIdea 4865, Sounds Like a Roller Knock? I did all the bearings on mine, I had knocking and banging like yours. I found the Hex or Spine Shafts on the rollers were worn smooth. This would cause the rollers to spin inside the bearing housing and slop and shift. This also caused me belt-tracking issues. The Bale Density springs can be adjusted for the switch too (IF working), The tractor's rpm is the best method, and knowing your machine. I hope this helps it's an idea.

Hello, thank you for watching my video & commenting! I think that roller might be what's going on with my baler. I'm going to look into it & see if that's the problem, it's definitely got me thinking now. I tightened the springs when I first got the baler & it did help some. I think the tractor rpm has been the most helpful so far. Thanks again for watching! 🙂
