You have the right trace with a sliding sinker and great bait... but grunter fishing you open the bale on your reel and let the grunter pick up your bait and swim. Flipping the bale back after the fish has taken a few meters is enough to set the hook.

The best time to fish the harbor is at first light from 4am My friends and i sit on the boat all night just relaxing and hanging out with our lines in the water just incase.. but at 1st light we start fishing for the money fish. Lately we fished near the bat center.. the biggest fish of the night was a nice 4kg grunter many fun good sized fish around a kg + - and obviously that 1 very tiny grunter that unfortunately did not make it.. we tried to gey him going but eventually he started floating and nice fat kingie smashed him like a few cm away from our boat .. We use a 6man boat but when we get close to the spot we use oars Between the 2 of us we caught over 20 fish each Between 4am and 6am.. also remember when the water temp is cold they dont really bite that well ..

are you allowed to anchor anywhere in the harbor as long as there’s obviously space for other ships to pass by ? we went the other day and were a bit nervous to anchor cause we weren’t sure where we can and can’t

No you cant bud, there is only spots to anchor around the centre island. But stay away from the channel those are obviously for ships
