My teacher always told me to use 三个力 when I practice baji, so with the elbow we always used to push, go up and gently sink down.. I love the little details in baji :)

@@CNote825 that means 3 diff energy, in this case that means in 3 different directions when it it a single movement. For example the elbow. You push, push up and sink and push down. These directions are real subtle. In other cases it are 3 movements together. There is a movement quite in the begin where it looks like it is one single movement but you actually do 3. It's a stab with fingers in the face, then a push with open hand and you end the movement pushing up with your handpalm up. I forgot the name of the move. Baji always have 3 different energy. It's difficult to see if you have never trained it.

@@5324TuiG I trained for a couple months. That was after years of previous martial arts training. I kind of understand the concept. It’s like a quick expansion/explosion then back to ready. My trainer at the time explained it like you did. He said the energy goes up, out, and down at the same time to all points. It’s hard for me to explain but I think I understand Thank you for your translation and explanation! Be safe!! 🙏🏾

thanks for the new routine. first i bit confuse when practice bian da we use palm but not fist cause i saw many form in bajiquan or other chinese martial art use fist to practice that move. now i know is just to make your foundation move before use in many form. and also thanks for explanation the brushing hair movement meaning. i am very curious about it long ago. first i think it move like monkey brushing their head or take opponent hand then pull it while strike with your elbow so the force will be bigger.

Currently not practicing this move but I did get how it works and tried it out once in the street outside my house for more space. The stomp is meant to propel you forward (as you mentioned in the group "like how long jumpers do in the olympics") which ends with your other foot touching the ground forming the horse stance as you jut your elbow towards the enemy, right? I don't know if I did it right but I did get the part where the stomping in the context of propelling yourself like a long jumper since I did felt that it does generate a good force pushing me forward but my left foot landing to form the horse stance got bent sideways a bit (foot facing forward 90 degrees) and it hurt for a few days. Maybe I shouldn't have practiced it in a rough concrete street with grippy footwear.....

@@bajiquan.online I just finished trying to practice this single move (3 sets). I must say the whole single move involves a lot more movements than the previous 3. I got it wrong several times. I had to do it really slow and I still haven't gotten the hang of part where I'm supposed to stomp. That suggested possible application in the end of the video looks nasty (for the enemy) though. Getting elbowed, kneed (Gen Ti), and smacked in the groin (from Bian Da?) almost simultaneously.

@@bajiquan.online Just a speculation I had. Is the reason why the point of the elbow is aligned with left knee in practice is to make sure the point of the elbow will come in contact with the enemy's sternum? As opposed to straight forward as if both shoulders are straight might nullify the attack with the point of the elbow just hitting the upper breast or even completely missing the enemy (grazing the shoulder only)?

@@bajiquan.online I'm trying to find a way to use Ding Zhou effectively. But with my Thai boxing training, I've come to love elbow strikes. Doing a baji scrubbing kick then a Thai elbow strike aimed to the face is so beautiful. I'm trying to work out a combo that will incorporate ding attack. I've somehow incorporated Cheng Chui effectively to combos in my regular bag practice. I've also experimented in using bao, xiang chui, and xiang loong. I've taken some inspiration from Xingyiquan and used xiang chui by blocking to the side rather from below going above (with gwun lei jin of course) as an experiment. Needs more practice. Xiang Loong practice might take months more to be able to actually do it on the sand bag.
