Well Bajirao used weapons like SWORDS, JAVELINS, DANDPATTA etc. but not URUMI. Both are flexible but with differences like PATTA was integrated with the GAUNTLET and the the length can be from 10 to 44 inches whereas URUMI has a SWORD like gripping handle and it can be as long as 48 - 66 inches with three or four blades on it. FUN FACT: DANDPATTA was created in 17th - 18th century by Marathas URUMI was created during Sangam Era (6th Century BCE - 3rd Century CE), don't know the exact year which it was created.

I honestly don't think it's reasonable to review movies thoroughly (or be expected to grasp every nuance of a movie) if you are not familiar with the culture. There is so much historical and cultural context you miss. It's probably a good thing to watch or even react to other documentaries and videos which discuss other aspects of the culture (not just movies). The Maratha empire was one of the most powerful in the subcontinent's history, whose most powerful figure was Shivaji. All of these figures are historical figures we've grown up learning about, much like US kids probably learn about George Washington and Civil War history.

Ranveer Singh is one of the greatest actors of the generation. The dude gets trolled for his energetic and expressing personality, but when it comes to acting he is the only superstar along with Ranbir Kapoor in Bollywood who can do any roles. You give him any role. It may be villain, real life person. He will give his 100% to that role. In future if he or Ranbir gets a big role in Hollywood, they may even rule there.

A must watch movie.. Almost 90% of these historic movies are accurate except songs.. Disclaimer is only there bcoz if even a small mistake can cause the director to face anger of people which r close to real characters.. so when watching historic movies always assume this happened in real.. bcoz if they show anything wrong, people will not ignore it.. people fight for it & censor board will cut down that part..

Burk, I agree with you. This particular director has a certain lens that he looks at history from, he does tend to bring historical art, sculpture to life , quite literally and personally I'm not a huge fan of that process. The cinematography and art director in his movies is grandiose and every frame is larger than life. The same story told as it happened and as is documented in historical texts would probably be low key and boring. You should review Satya which is a classic though. Very different

Sanjay Leena Bhansali’s movies are more visually Gorgeous.. but I am not personally a fan of his because I feel he tends to less on the Meat or grittiness of story and character. But yet, I did enjoy his movie “Padmavat”. One of the older well made , historical drama was “Jodha Akbar”. It does not have the eye pleasing Grandeur of Bhansali’s movie , but well crafted historical drama fictionalising and using the relationship of one of India’s great Mughal Emperor with one of his Hindu Rajput wife (Hritik Roshan and Aishwariya Ray ). Based partly on an historical account called “Akbar Naama”. Don’t miss that movie.
