Baker elevation is 3500' - it's in a valley with the Elkhorn and Blue Mountains all around which rise to ~9000- SO BEAUTIFUL!

Love your drone footage Russ. I could see your campsite at Mountain View rv and mobile home park when you pulled in from your roof or dash cam. I really like the site that gave you nestled in between the trees seems to me like you got the best site in the park. looking forward to your next video. I have not missed one yet on this trip.

You are real lucky to have landed there. Joe Rudi famous left fielder lives very near where you are camped. Also just a couple of miles north of you in Haines, OR they have a wonderful museum. Also they have many restored log cabins in town from the 1800's. Still hoping to see you when you come through Nampa, ID on I-84.

Baker City and Mt. View RV Park are great! I stayed there recently and impressed with the great service. Have fun. For excellent steak, try the Haines Steak House in Haines, Or, about 10 or so miles north of Baker.

So much of the buildings and stuff were never there when I was there in the 60s. Baker has expanded what's the population has not increased. I left there in 1963 to go into the army. I have never lived there since this RV park definitely was not there.

A little history. In 1910 Baker City residents voted to change the name to just Baker. Then in 1989, they voted to have it Baker City. I still call it Baker.

Empty town, no people walking on the sidewalks, no life. Looks like a ghost town. A little frightening to see. Is this normal for towns in the US ? Where are all the people? Hiding in the houses? In the towns in my country you will see a lot of people walking around.

Hi, If this was a Sunday or before 10am almost all the stores are closed. Otherwise parking is a challenge at times. This will be surprising to many. This street has.... art galleries, restaurants, award winning breweries, gift shops, a "mall" with various business and other businesses... all entrepreneurs. A long running theater group is now in process of revitalizing an old movie house (donated) for it's own theater. Side streets have long standing businesses including A Food Co-op A Movie Theater (which has a yearly film festival) and other small businesses in town Public Library (open 7 days a week) has the Sage System (which has lending available from state wide libraries) The history musuem is well run by volunteers a couple just purchased an old school a few years back. which has venues for movies, art etc. and a bicyclist hostel. Crossroads Carnegie Art Center... has exhibits, classes, bookreadings dance and yearly Childrens Theater. What is most impressive to me is that philanthropy runs rampant :) in this small town. I type all this with a totally unbiased view as I have only been in this area for a few years. thanks for reading!

You missed some really great spots from where you were on the Washington side. Pendleton, The Blue Mountains and even more so a ride up the tram at Joseph Oregon. Oh well..........if you're headed through Idaho don't miss the Hwy 30 drive past Thousand Springs south of Hagerman Idaho. Pretty amazing place with cascading waterfalls coming out of the mountainsides.

From the passing signs it looks like gas is about the same as it is in the evil, expensive, overtaxed California. I'm definitely in the habit of watching your trip.
@frankp57865 жыл бұрын
Gas is much more expensive in the central valley of California - close to $4 a gallon for Chevron regular. Lesser brands of gas run about $3.70.

I got rid of my wifi because of cost, my phone has a hotspot but not enough to run my computer to update software and etc. Do had any suggestions for a economical alternative to hardline wifi? Would appreciate any suggestions.
