I live in Baker and LOVE it. Such a beautiful area of Oregon. Especially if you love hunting and fishing.

Great Video. I am a Baker City resident. You caught a great look at downtown and the historic District. moved here in 2005. From Boise. My folks moved here in 1981. The metal animals showed up in 2016??? Art Roamers. Fun add to our little city. You were almost on their retail door step, when at Court Plaza, near the "Salt Lick" sculpture. To really enjoy and get a good vibe of this place, come back the 3rd weekend in July. Miners Jublie. Lots to see and learn about our mining histoty. Thanks for sharing your video!

Roman numeral nerd here. The '1903' carved into the City Hall's stone (0:56) is incorrect. It should be MCMIII and not MDCCCCIII. Happily, while beholding the building's overall beauty, nobody but a roman numeral wonk like me is going to notice. 😄 Baker City is a pretty town.

Baker City, LaGrande, Halfway, Praire City, John Day. Beautiful country. I drive Hood River to Ontario often and love swinging through these towns.

Baker has changed a lot yet there's still a lot of stuff from when I was a child. I was born in 1945 and I left there when I joined the army when I was 18 in 1963..

Baker is a retirement town. Most young people fled the place to find jobs cuz there's not many there. That's why I joined the army.

For young people unless they're into sports is a bad bad place to grow up . Nothing to do except drive your car up and down the main streets. Hope that'll band would come to the armory for what the hell for dances.

California-style street art is the first sign of a failing economy. Going from a strong resource-based economy to artsy/tourist shoe-shine economy never works. At least I didn't see a stuffed figure in a rocking chair playing a violin like infest small dying California coastal towns.

I spent time in Baker City. It is one of the extreme right-wing towns you will find. Hence, they are doomed to fail. Everyone talks politics, wears political shirts and hats. They are always about lunatic fringe thoughts. Beautiful downtown that will not realize its potential because right-wingers are too short-sighted and cheap.
