About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.

Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know I saw an episode of your channel and really liked it. What you are doing now is pretty much what we did in the 70's. Raised 4 kids on 3 acres. Ate like kings, and fed the neighborhood to boot. Always canning and preserving food. The kids knew how spoiled they were when they went off to college when they started eating not home cooked food. That three hour time difference gets you every time. If you miss seeing cactus we they grow wild in northern Ohio I'm sure you could plant some on your homestead.

I use slice pumpkin 🎃🎃🎃 cut it into mouthable size to cook with rice to become delicious yummy porridge 🥘🥘🥘 ... others ingredient mixed well into pumpkin porridge such as 🍗 chickenmeat 🥜nuts n 🍄 mushrooms n some slice of preserved sweet dried vegetable
