Unusual shortbread base but was easy and fast to make. Delicious and I will certainly add this recipe to my collection of perfect bakes. Thank you for sharing and would love to see more of your baking

@@HeronbrookFarm To be fair the Bakewell slice is the best looking tart I've seen since I used go out drinking in Chester-le-street on a Friday night.

Great recipe but I always have to make more frangipane than called for because I eat half the mixture before I get the chance to bake it 😭

Tried your recipe twice and it didn’t turn out right I didn’t know where I’m going wrong dune wait for wait 4 eggs 25 to 35 minutes baking in the oven preheated the oven to gas Mark 4 and turn down to 3 it is still Runny I’ve dune everything as you said in the video i left the Second one in till it was firm it took about an hour plus have you any suggestions thanks John

I saw your comment before attempting this precise recipe so had advance warning. Thanks. My base needed at least another 10 minutes to go even slightly brown and the final bake was still runny after 25 minutes, I left it in for about another 15 minutes until the top was golden brown. A skewer test came out clean. Leaving it to cool for an hour before cutting as advised, I thought the frangipane was probably a little too moist below the crust and really could have done with another 5 or 10 minutes (and how to do that without burning the top ?). I cut it into 12 rectangles and stored it in an airtight container on a kitchen worktop during a typical cool April in the UK. Anyway, regardless of next time, this first bake has been deliciously edible for three days with no ill effects though I have never farted as much in my life ! One last thing, the first time I ever made Bakewell Slice was from a recipe on the back of "a packet of Whitworths Semolina" and that came out maybe a tad too dry but still nice,

Are your oven temps for fan based or normal oven?
@HeronbrookFarm Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question - they are for a fan based oven. Happy baking.
@beepee245 Жыл бұрын
@@HeronbrookFarm Ahh, I had assumed normal oven and had reduced by 20C for each of your baking temps, the 2nd batch, with the temps exactly as per the recipe, was perfect, better than Mr Kipling! Thanks!
