124: How to Shape a Christmas Wreath Bread - Bake with Jack

Ho ho ho! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Ok so it's a bit early, but this video should give you PLENTY of time to practice your Christmas wreaths for the big day. This bread is a savoury dough with a little sweetness from dried cranberries which for me is just perfect for a cheeseboard or a GIANT turkey and stuffing sandwich for everybody to share :-)

This is the final recipe I'll be presenting to my basic bread makers class ... just in time for Christmas 2021 in Kalamunda, Western Australia. Thanks heaps Jack for the inspiration. With a baked camembert in the middle it's going to be an absolute winner. I just need to make sure my cloth is a bit damper so that the poppy seeds stay on and not drop off all over the bench top! 😂

@@Bakewithjack Jack, I have learned so much from you over the past 10 months. Being self taught in the 1970s and kneading my way through the past 45+ years, making bread two and three times a week when family were all home, and still making our bread for just the two of us, your videos have been a revelation. I don't want to sound like I'm boasting ... but my bread was considered good enough to win local bread competitions, but was never truly consistent every time. This year I was asked to teach bread making on a volunteer basis at our local adult education centre. I started looking for recipes to extend my classes and your videos came up. My bread is now so much better and you have taught me so many techniques ... especially kneading without flour ... what a game changer that is! My classes tell me I'm amazing but I tell them "No, I'm not amazing but Jack Sturgess is. Look him up and follow him because he is truly amazing!" Thank you Jack. I'm so grateful that there's now an Internet, KZbin and Bake with Jack. How lucky the novice bread makers of the world are to be able to access your videos and next year a book. I'm putting my hand up for a signed copy please ❤

Another jolly good video Jack. A much clearer description of plaiting than many others have given in the past. Question: as I'm a veggie is it ok to roll the dough into a Linda McCartney sausage shape 🤪? Tip for BWJ friends: I viewed on my ipad mini so I locked the screen and turned it around to see the plait made as usual - vertically 🤓. I noticed that you were so pleased with the result that you were “blowing your own trumpet” at the end 😁.

Hi Jack you probably won't see this for a while, but was wondering if you can make this dough the day before, refrigerate like your overnight sandwich loaf and shape and bake the following morning? Or would the cranberries affect the hydration of the dough and bleed all over the place?
