Aren't "Zinda lashine" monsters refered to in "Arabian Nights" and middle eastern folklore in general? Max Brooks has a point about the universiality of the undead legend. By the way, for those who may be interested, the Old English term is "barrow wight"; "zombi" is a central african term. Symbolicly, the current disaster in Iraq could be summed up nicely with a rotting, undead version of the old Egyptian goddess Isis, to represent the new "zombie plauge" that is ISIS.

There is no specific word to translate zombie directly in urdu language. She translated the metaphorical meaning of the song. The theme of the original and this version are interconnected if you are into analysing poems. In Literature, s I am studying, when we translate a poem from one language to another, they are no way resemble the same words of the original version. Usually central idea is taken as a reference for translation. She just did the amazing in translating it. No other perfect meaning could be taken out of the original version in urdu language. She has done a great job.

Hindi and Urdu were never really different languages. After partition, Pakistan adopted a more Farsi-Arbi based vocabulary, and India decided to move towards more tatsam Sanskrit words. But the way the common people speak it is hardly any different. So what we call Hindi in India is probably called Urdu in Pakistan. We shouldn't have a problem with that. Enjoy the music, peace!
