I lived and worked in the Philippines for a year. But when I had to return to the US I felt I was leaving home behind rather then going home. The Philippines was the first place that ever really felt like home to me and I have been many places. Friendships feel like family, and the people for the greater part were warm, generous and helpful. My dream is to return and to spend the rest of my days there. Yes there are some problems but there are problems everywhere. Filipinos though make the difference and somehow even make difficult times easier. Friendliness, compassion, helpfulness, courtesy, good work ethics. In the Philippines I learned the value of living a simple life. And oh, do I miss the Karaoke. Singing, laughter, and friendships. I will return!

I went to the Philippines last year for the first time and love the people out there. There is a stark difference between the rich and the poor, but I really like the outlook for the country itself. The Philippines in time will rise to prosperity. I'd say go to the Philippines before it becomes too corporate and loses its grittiness and charm. Other than that, I wish only the best for its people. This video makes me want to go back soon!!!

In spite of our shortcomings as a people, I am still mighty proud to be a Filipino and thank God to be born a Filipino! If people from other countries could deeply appreciate us and our country, how much more can we native-born FIlipinos do? That only means they could see, feel and appreciate something which many of us native-born FIlipinos sadly take for granted. If every Filipino thinks positively then everyone will enjoy a happy life. poverty is not the reason but the lack of initiative, common sense, discipline and too much love will kill you as well. Though your married to someone whom you love that much and only the husband or the wife is working alone then having a children of three or five and can't afford to send them all to school and later blame the the govt. blame yourself first before throwing the stone to others. i am not pro-govt but i am full blooded Filipino and most of the time I've heard reasons illogically everyday. you may dislike my comment but be real my friend. all of us has a reason. Many cultures of indigenous filipinos but the culture of tagalogs are dominant in the metroplolitan region. but if you fairly approach all tribes and cultures of filipinos then you can find those differences. We have different hospitality in the Cordillera region specifically the IGOROTS. IFUGAOS.
