I became a BakuDeku shipper when Bakugou started regretting his actions and sacrificed himself for Deku but I'm not surprised in the slightest that they didn't end up canon. Deku is the Shonen protagonist and Uraraka is the female love interest, it was expected.

The reason I see MHA shippers being labeled psychotic is because too many of them sent death threats over the ships not being canon. I'm not saying just this fandom does it, just what its most well known about MHA shipping community. It's just when fans get entitled to series that they have such parasocial relationship with it's deeply concerning. I would know cause my friend is currently balling her eyes out that creator of Homicipher is no longer creating anymore content due to out of touch fans.

Honestly as a BKDK shipper, I didn’t expect (much) that it will be canon. But the lack of commitment to the story’s previous themes for the last decade is disappointing to me. For example, BKDK’s chapter was titled as “The end of an era, and a beginning”…for what? Their handholding was emohasized since the first seasons but Izuku held hands with literally any other character other than Katsuki? Win to save, Save to win? Face it, most people here are more upset about the main characters’ regressions than the ship.

When it comes down to it. On different sides of the community you see things like: straights being hated bc of toxic fans and the bl and gl shippers being hated by toxic straights. Both sides have their toxicity. And some don’t learn how to respect and move on. Don’t people ship Naruto and saskue even though they didn’t end up together? The same thing can be done with bkdk. But it’s not healthy to be so attached to any ship regardless if it’s bl gl or straight. That’s what why these meltdowns are insane imo. Yes, you can be disappointed. (I liked a different mha ship but I won’t say it bc I know I’ll tick people off) but I respect hori’s choices and will still ship the ship regardless. Being respectful of him and others is something mha fans have lost over the course of the series. And that can be said about any fandom. I’m not trying to start a war here. Just sharing somethings I’ve noticed. 🥲

From what I've seen, it's a very mixed reaction from all sides of the fandom. I think we all understood from the beginning when the author shows 2 chara blushing, they're letting us know they will be endgame. You can still ship for fun of course even with this in mind. I think what got most people up in arms was that when other chara have more focus on improving their relationships, people are either "is the author implying there's something more" or "maybe he just wants them to be good friends" Like you can't help but wonder if it's meant to be taken as romatic or platonic. Especially when you have things like: "You were this amzing person in my life" "For the rest of our lives" "I can't imagine a world without you" "you're the closest person to [him]" "It's okay if it's you" getting mad on their behalf when someone insults them; taking the hit; dying for them. (Tbh I believe you can argue for either side) But regardless of how things ended, and how people felt about it, it's very disgusting and disheartning when I see people leave very rude and distasteful comments on others' posts, it's so unnecessary. But, I hope that doesn't stop people from continuing to enjoy making art for their fav chara. From the small part of the community I was in, I love seeing others' cute and funny fanart and hc, and reading their sweet and emotional fics. It's what makes fandom fun and what I think every fandom needs.

Most fans of the ship that I know of were only interested in it *because* they predicted that Bakugou and Deku would be on better terms further into the story. Most fics are about them discovering healthy communication and putting past hurts to rest, while discovering that they've actually always liked each other, to some degree. Also, BakuDeku shippers aren't the "I can fix him" fans. They're the "He can fix himself and grovel a bit" fans, from what I've seen. 😂

Not everything is about homophobia, many BL shippers are harrassive if you dont agree with their ship, they label it as 100% cano not the mangaka. Of course a part will be homophobic bigots but some just dont ship the same ship without any hate. Its not right being attacked for not shipping the same ship or harrassed and I have been through that. Also they lowkey attacked Horikoshi and send him death threads..where is that justified? I'm not big into MHA, i watched a bit of the first season but dropped it after a while but still kept on decent tabs on the series. I didn't mind the ships for the most part but for the bkdk , i hated it. Not the ship itself but more specifically Bakugo simply because of his first impression and behavior really stuck on me. I know the situation is more complicated but this dude had literally bullied his childhood best friend since they were kids because the idea of Midoriya helping him irritated him. That the quirkless kid was helping the great Bakugo. It irritated him to the point he started calling him useless (Deku) and even beating him up at points before getting to UA. It's only after Midoriya got OFA did he finally started to respect him, even becoming his rival and really realised his faults by the end of the story. In the end, it doesn't surprise me that Midoriya doesn't even join the same Agency as him because it would've just restarted their whole rivalry again. Yeah i understand it sucks for people who were very interested in them but as someone who did have a bully in school for a short time, the idea of them just being together just gave me the ick. plus the community threatening the mangaka over the ships doesn't help my impression over the overall MHA community.

I am a casual MHA watcher/reader, who doesn't really interact with fandom aside from reading a couple fanfictions here and there, and is a queer as well. and to me, the expectation for BakuDeku to be canon seems so out of left field. I would have never guessed that people would be disappointed and even have literal meltdowns over the ship not being canon. yes, the characters have strong chemistry and are unhealthy obsessed with each other, but Ochako was established as the main character's love interest since her introduction in the series. I just don't get such a strong reaction.

I'm a huge shipper for gay ships all the way. I saw many good art for BakuDeku, like really amazing fan art. so I actually don't mind about this ship even if it's not cannon, which lets be honest would never be cannon anyway. What I could never forgive those fans, no matter what their age, is them sending death threats to the author. this is another level of crazy and they give all of us a bad name.

I have lost interest in the bnha fandom a long time ago but every now and then watch the anime. From I have heard from people online, a lot are stating that ch 431 isn’t canon in a way cause the mangka/author of the story either didn’t or want to write the extra ending ch. idk if it’s real but if it makes people feel better, thinking 431 is one of the many futures that could occur rather than canon, go ahead. I actually like Ochaco Uraraka (my only complaint is she didn’t get enough screen time) so her getting together with Deku doesn’t fill me with stress like the Naruto ships. Ochaco and Deku actually have a few sweet moments in the anime helps soften the blow as well it’s just that my bakudeku heart wanted well Bakudeku to be canon, because wow were they focused on I actually thought they would be a couple in the end… Then again we are still being fed with the fandom.

I'm not in the MHA fandom and I have barely seen the series, but as someone who is queer, here are my two cents: I don't think the ship not being canon is homophobic, but some things that supposedly happened there do sound weird. For example, killing a sapphic woman to make another woman go for the protagonist, which is either homophobia or just a straight guy with a severe lack of oversight I assumed at the end that Kacchan (sorry if I got the name wrong) was just going to get a redemption arc and be friends with Deku, and (based off what people comment) it confuses me as to why they didn't go over that route, which could be seen as the writer wanting to either spite the fans or not knowing what to do with the characters Regarding the comments, there is a lot of homophobia disguised as criticism, which is a given for queer media in general. A lot of people try to argue that the problem are the fans, the ships, the story, and yet they use talking points from bigots/lend them a platform to justify not liking a piece of media. This comes from both people lacking oversight on what they say, homophobes and some gatekeeping queer people trying to shut others down, etc. Personally, I think we should tell the people who are unaware what they are doing, and use the activly malicious comments as a general "look how pathethic homophobic people are" That's all I have to say. Sorry if my English sounds weird, I'm not a native speaker

@@Lakadaizical It is because Bakugou and Deku have grown together, fought together and know eachother much better than anyone else in the series. I like the idea of their relationship transitioning to bully/victim, friendly rivals, friends, and to lovers. It just seems more interesting. Not to mention, they are very different people. I don't like Izuocha because I personally find the ship to be very boring and bland. It's way too vanilla and they are too alike in my opinion. As much as I love Ochako as a character, I feel like the ship ruins her because she's only known for her feelings for Deku and it makes me sad, especially because throughout the series we don't really see Deku like her as much as she likes him(sure he blushes around her but he did that for any girl that was next to him, and her love felt more intense than Deku's). I personally just find Izuocha to be forced, boring and poorly written :/ But thats just my opinion though.

The conclusion around the character bakugo and those advices he gave to deku have completed him and his friendship with deku well. Everyone have different opinions but those claims just sound delulu in my eyes, as it was very unlikely and unrealistic for bd to be cannon

I've been in fandoms for a long time. I never expect my personal headcanons to be cannon because that's not how it works, lol. This isn't our show it's the creators, the Creator will choose how the show will go. Just because you are fans of something does not mean you own the show. It is the creator show and the creators characters. You have no ownership over the show. My hero Academia is a show for teenage boys. Of course, the gay ship won't be canon. I also don't get the thing with these new fans trying to demand all their head canons be canon. Especially when it's LGBT related. As a bisexual myself, it is super embarrassing, especially when they try to claim that it is bigotry when something like that doesn't become canon. Either find shows and support shows that have LGBT themes in it already or just make your own show. Stop harassing people to make your personal fanfics become a reality.
