Congrats on one year of moving out of that toxic household and continuing to stay clean! ❤️ Some small advice on keeping your fridge stocked: you don't have to buy so much all at once when you go shopping. You can make a shopping list for once a week grocery shopping to try and stay within your budget while slowly stocking your fridge to how you like it.

How do you fill up your fridge? Frozen fruit, veg and meat are typically cheaper than fresh. Canned soup Seasonings! Herbs! Rice, lentils (dried) chickpeas, beans Oxo or boullion powder If you can have dairy: Cheese, milk If you like spicy foods: Hot sauce, chili powder, korean dried chili flakes Snacks: Fruit snacks Cookies

I fill up my fridge with milk, cheese, carrots, and apples. Since you like sandwiches you can get lettuce, mayo, and deli meat. I live on my own too so sometimes my fridge looks a little empty. Refrigerator items normally expire faster so I dont fill the fridge fully.

As someone who moved out on their own this spring, for filling up your fridge and general cooking tips, . First of all just buy staples like butter, eggs, milk, etc. You don't have to buy everything at once. The rest is general tips. . You can go longer between shopping trips if you buy multiple things of milk and eggs, and eggs last ages so you can buy like 3 cartons if you want to. I currently have 4 cartons of milk and 4 of eggs and so I only have to grocery shop 1-2 times a month. Just keep an eye on the milk expiry date . A bag of cole slaw mix without a sauce packet is basically just pre-chopped veggies that you can easily stir fry with some ground sausage or turkey, which depending on store is also cheap. Add some soy sauce and honey and you're good to go . Bread can be refrigerated to last longer, or frozen . Don't sleep on lunchmeat, it's a good snack with some protein and can be thrown in a lot of things . Eggs are s tier bosses in terms of complete protein that go in basically everything. The amount of times I've had broccoli and eggs after a depressive phase and feel like I drank an HP potion is unreal, plus easy protein and fat . You can make like 8 servings of rice, wait for it to cool, then separate into little plastic lunch bags and freeze. To reheat, just microwave for a min or two . Tuna and rice is an easy, high protein meal . Apples last a long time and are a great snack, oranges too . If you forget your veggies till they rot like I do, only get 1-2 things like a head of lettuce and cauliflower for the crisper drawer and freeze the rest. You can freeze most things, I have a big frozen bag of zucchini, onion, spinach, peas, corn, carrots and squash. Veggies are cheap so easy to stock up on . Invest in a big bag of chicken. I like getting a 3 lb bag of chicken tenderloins from walmart. High protein and goes in lots of stuff . Invest in condiments too. Some mayo, ketchup, soy sauce, and bbq sauce can easily take the same few boring meals and make them entirely different I got more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head!

**long post because you talked about food and filling up your kitchen First, I appreciate you so much and I am proud of you. Keep being great (you) ❤. As far as the groceries and food, always have seasonings and spices, when you shop get two of each (you'll be surprised how much you cook and try things out). Always keep eggs, cheeses, milk, water, bread (you can put any extra in the freezer to keep it longer), rice and pasta's and some Ramen packs for cabinet things. Also veggies, frozen or fresh if cheaper (you can rinse, cut and store the in the freezer) from mushrooms, to broccoli and more. Oils and butters (if really cheap get 2 packs and only put in the fridge butter you wish to use). Keep up with any sales or ways to negotiate a price down if you go to a market or butcher for meats and fish. And always keep a fruit or 2 like apples or a small bunch of bananas, plus breakfast and snack foods like granola, cereal +milk, yogurt, snack bars, etc. And when you can, treat yourself, chips, ice cream, donuts or pastry. It doesn't have to be expensive either, canned vegetables and fruit cups can almost always be on sale (or marked down at a low price) at a shop or store, the same with condiments like mayo, ketchup, hot sauce, mustard or whatever you like. Also (sorry for so many also's), flour, sugar or pref sweeteners, soups and sauces (tomato, spaghetti, pesto, alfredo/cream). ♡ You're doing great.

Hey Josh, so I'm a broke uni student, so for different reasons, but I know the pain of not getting normal food without sacrificing like half your day in the kitchen, along with a way too much money. Here's what I do: I know countless pasta recipes, cause cheap n quick. It's insane how much variety you can get out of pasta, maybe even taste other cultures' foods. Eggs are very verstile too, think of the many variations of omlettes. You can also eat them hard boiled, bake simple sweets out of them, or make a low effort but tasty breakfast. I also eat bread with basically anything: ham, cheese, veggies, different spreads (Hungarian sour cream is a fav). One-pan dishes like pad thai are great too, since you don't need to wash that many dishes. Hope this helps, and good luck on your healing journey💙

Littel recepy for beginner: Frittata one potato half eggplant (You can put any vegetable, this is my favourite combo) two egg 1) Cut the egg and the eggplant in really small pices 2) Put them in the pan with a littel oil, salt and paprika. And cook them for 15/20 minuts. They need to be cooked but not that much 3) take a bowl and beat the eggs until you get a smooth mixture 4) Put the egg in the pan at low heat and distribute the egg omogeneally 5) Let it cook until the down part is well cook 6) Flip the mixture. (You can help your self with a plate) If it break don't worry, we all brake it the first 20 time 7) Let the other half cook. 8)Serve with some Philadelphia or tuna by side

Ok girl, about fridges i got you, first, esencials, tomatos, onions and SEASONAL fruits because those are the cheapest, meats: fish, chiken and beef (if they are too expensive just ask for bones to make broth, it'll last for a week in the fridge) as for chiken i recomend you makind spreaks with shedded chiken, celery, mayonnaise and onion if you like to be able to make sandwiches nor snacking, balance the animal source protein with beans, lentains and tofu, popcorn is a must if you want to feel full without too much money and of course eggs and pasta, as in the medium-long run plant some tomatos and bell pepers ( planting your own food is cheaper). Cheap And Healthy Meals For The Week, Done In 1 Hour by Jossua Weissman is a great video on meal prep. MASSIVE CONGRATS ON HEALING¡¡¡ Love from my corner of the world.

also for cooking I'd recommend basic spices like onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika. they can really spice up your cooking and add more flavor. getting sauces can also make plain food alot more tasty. if you are still looking for advice on things you could put in your fridge, I would say maybe some juices from the store or ones you make yourself, like carrot juice (my favorite)🥕, and if you cook or buy something, make (or keep) a few extra portions and store them in there (but not too many because it might spoil or you might get bored of eating the same thing for a while), bottled drinks (recently, in a lot of grocery stores, I've noticed that they have been selling milk and juice drinks in cute teardrop-shaped glass bottles with metal caps) and you could drink them by themselves, but I prefer to pour them over cereal or into milk since they're a little too sweet for me to finish all at once. also, tofu and frozen and not frozen vegetables and fruits are good ideas, and vegan and/or non-vegan dairy products like cheese and milk (especially cashew milk 🤍) and spreads like nut and seed butters if you are not allergic, and also fruit preserves, like apple and orange ones. (really long and maybe painful story below, you really don't have to read it but it's there if you want to, sorry, I feel very bad that it's so much) but I'm not deleting it now and I should be brave like you are doing on your channel, so thank you ❤🩹💖 🥹 i'm so proud of you, and hopefully me and my neighbor buddy can break free from our not-so-great households someday too 🥺 {and since I have no better place to vent, and I'm sure (hopeful) that this is a safe space, I will say it (but only a summary, which turns into a long rant)}: she (my best friend for about 4 1/2 years) is stuck in my old neighborhood, we moved to a worse one because my parents thought it seemed better for them and told me we're moving 'cause we feel like it (and their jobs are still in that old town and they still go there so it's not because of that and they're "just not telling you because you're a kid"), I left all my friends from school and the neighborhood and my basketball group (which I still miss terribly) there and never said goodbye or saw them ever again, a bunch of our neighbor friends moved away too and she is lonely except for maybe when she goes to school (like how I used to feel when I was in her grade, only I'm older than her and people listen to me a little more now because I look taller and more "mature" now though I wasn't immature back then ) and she has nobody to tell about her situation, since when we were both in school together for two years, I told the school staff who were meant to be helping students get out of @6(_)$!\/£ situations about what has been happening to us, only they thought (and concluded) I was lying (again, but who in their right mind would lie about serious things like this? are you even thinking, school?!) and sent me "home" (to that awful family), and just ignored what I said about her and did nothing ("oh but how would YOU know? they could have helped privately and not told a random minor like you!" but they LAUGHED WHAT I SAID OFF and SAID they WOULD NOT BE DOING ANYTHING, and also SHE WAS MY BEST FRIEND AND KNEW I KNEW ABOUT SITUATIONS so she would have told me or at least not been in that situation anymore, but she was) so they were no help, and now (actually it's been 1 1/2 years) since the one person who understood and experienced similar things (and our parents showed some of those behaviors in front of each other's families but not the worst ones, but we know that we've been through things) is gone from her life and she is stuck shushing herself up and no one will help until she is in higher grades and develops a bunch of awful ways to survive that are very harmful JUST LIKE SO MANY OTHERS HAVE DONE AND WE ALL REGRET IT and THEN it will all be blamed on "pre-teen/teenage hormones" and "all these made-up mental illnesses kids have nowadays and HOW DARE YOU JUMP ON THAT TREND (the "faking" that we have issues going on)" and "the autism disease" (people have said that about me, it's not my belief, I know it's wrong and hurtful) and "it's never your (the parents') fault your son or daughter (just say KID) turned out like this!" and she will go down the same or similar path to me and we are both doomed until we turn the "legal" age, when ALL the problems are supposed to disappear somehow when we leave, but we will STILL be stuck in those same thought patterns, just like you've been, and living terrible childhoods with only our basic physical needs being met well enough and having had SOME okay things happen to us means our lives have been "normal" and "oh every household is a little bit abusive and it's FINE and just SHUT UP AND DEAL WITH IT" AND "just cope in some way, if you have negative coping skills it's fine, it's not as bad as I've seen from other people and since it won't get you admitted anywhere, it's fine as long as you don't tell anyone because THEN you're an ATTENTION SEEKER and if you DO get admitted then you are also an attention seeker and youre the bad one" (seeking help is not bad, hurting ourselves physically or mentally in any way and ALL ways is bad, and please stop blaming victims, especially those stuck because we're minors, we're so tired of hearing it over and over and it's wrong, you KNOW it's wrong, and reporting things to our parents really does not help, since we'll stop telling you things and you'll assume and CONCLUDE that we're getting better and we don't need help anymore and that you've been SO helpful reporting abuse to the abusers because youre "legally obligated" to tell the parents and blindly following the laws is "the RIGHT thing to do" (and yes, I have talked to may counselor- and therapist- and psychiatrist- type people and none of them were very helpful, except the last one, but my parents cancelled since she said I was "better now" 😑) so I thought there really is no hope in waiting to be 18 because I will still be in school then and she will too, but I saw your video this morning and it was really inspirational and gave me hope that things WILL actually get better someday, as long as we continue trying, so thank you. I'm very sorry if I am taking up space with my problems on your channel (I think it's the thought patterns again making me feel guilty, but I'm not sure), but I really hoped that sharing would help those in households like this who can't comment but can still access youtube videos and give them something to relate to, and it's taking a lot of bravery to write and publish a comment, let alone share a really long description of a big part of a story which has turned into more than just a short summary. have a nice day, if anyone has read this far (and sorry again if what I typed makes no sense at all) 💞💫
@notleavingmyroomАй бұрын
I relate so much with you, even though the type of abuse I went through was different. Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations on your 1 and 7 year anniversaries 🎉 People are giving some great advices for the fridge, so I’ll give you a volume advice: When you buy food, try to write down when you bought it with the amount you purchased. The when it is about to end, take note of how long it lasted and think if you want to eat the same thing as much in the following days/weeks. This helps you avoid buying too much or too little. Also helps with avoiding food waste. Freezing food is a great friend when you live alone. I try to keep a list of what I have in my freezer where I can see it, so that I make sure to spend it and can avoid buying more of it. Lastly, keep a list of things you need to replace (food, cleaning supplies, etc) or buy new in your phone. Before going shopping, you make a budget and then go looking for the specific items you need more urgently first. If after getting those, you still have some extra cash, you can buy other things from your list or check for snacks, fruits, or other things with discounts. Learning to cook is fun, go slowly and enjoy the process. Wish you all the joy in this journey ❤

I'm genuinely so happy for you, your videos do genuinely make my day and you inspire me a lot as a person. I'm super glad things are starting to look up for you. I hope this continues further onto the next oncoming years and you can remain content and safe. As for the food thing, while I'm not exactly a cook myself, keeping a basic category and amount of necessities would be enough. Get dairy, meat, grains, and veggies/fruit. Dairy as in cheeses and milk, those two can aid a lot in terms of just simple meals with bread and biscuits but also help with more complex meals if you want to learn to cook. Meat is especially important, I'm not particular about the cut of the meat n such but getting your basic pork & chicken helps. Fish, too, is good. Grains is self-explanatory, you do already have bread and biscuits but it can be helpful if you have a good amount of rice and stock up on noodles/pasta. Also eggs are super efficient with cooking. While I understood you're not the biggest fan of veggies or some fruit I think it'll help if you add them with your meals, choose ones you like or can better handle, it just makes you healthier. Stock up on a variety of snacks as well, including soup and noodle packages. Get oil and more simple spices as well needed for cooking as simple as pepper and salt, also MSG if you want. Wishing the best for you! ❤

Honestly i wouldnt worry too much about the fridge portion. When i moved out all i ate was rice and beans. Cause they are cheap and easy to store. Also easy to cook and very versatile when it comes to cooking. They also dont spoil easy. If its cooking then buy portioned items cause if u dont have other people visiting then they will spoil. So i would suggest u pick recipes with similar ingredients that way u get versatility with your diches while keeping cost to a minimum.

I have abusive parents too so I sort of understand what it feels like (even if my parents are very different from yours). I know all of this definitely wasn’t easy. I’m so glad that you’re in a better place now. I hope you continue to explore and enjoy everything that life has to offer
