But when he lost the second round he wanted to protect Alice so badly that her well-being was of his upmost priority. He couldn't focus on the battle and thus his softness and protectiveness for the safety of Alice led Hydron to take advantage and defeat him. He loved Alice so much that even she realized how much and even forgave him and all more. She realized that Lync had risked his life for her and for the dimensions as a whole.

Let's be honest, King Zenoheld, by his character and personality isn't exactly father of the year nor is he a friendly man. He already has proven at the end of this episode and episode 49 that he doesn't care about his own son, let alone care whether he wants his approval or not. But back to Lync; if it wasn't for him leaving the Alternative Data for Alice to find, then the Brawlers would never confront Zenoheld in the final battle (and penultimate episodes of New Vestroia.) In short: Hydron may have won the battle of this episode, but because of his arrogance, he lost the war. And got a real bad beaten for his failure in the later two episodes to boot.

Here's the thing; the reason why Lync pulled a turncoat was because if Earth was destroyed, Alice would die. He cares about her. He specifically went to see Alice to bring the data to her instead of going to the Brawlers. He cares about Alice as a friend. Kind of in a love/hate relationship. He's an annoying little brat, but when he met Alice, she put up with him with a backhand to the cheek!
