I just thought of something that every reactor has said at the beginning of this episode. "Villains kidnapping Bakugo.", and that he needs to be rescued... I'm now thinking that's a very 'hero'-sided view. I was trying to think of things from the villains' perspective. I'm now thinking that from their P.o.V, they might view it as rescuing Bakugo from a what they view as corrupt hero system.

While I understand Kirishima, Todoroki and Midoriya in wanting to rescue Bakugo, Iida is being completely reasonable here and I fully agree with him. Not only are they going somewhere where they will encounter a Nomu at the very least and have no idea what other things they'll find, they are taking a huge risk and putting their lives on the line. Midoriya and Momo have already been badly hurt and stuck in a hospital since the incident. Not to mention the fact that the hero world as a whole and UA in particular are experiencing a huge crisis at the moment. The general public currently thinks UA and heroes are not capable to keep them safe, and if the information that they went rogue to save Bakugo got out, it would not only prove UA can't keep their students in line, but them getting hurt would basically be the final nail in the coffin of hero society.

While i ultimately agree, i also think that what the public thinks of the heroes shouldnt matter. Season 6 mild spoilers Season 6 kind of addressed this. After all, a hero isnt exactly a person. Its a mindset. And all might has claimed that deku doing something in a dangerous situation is what reminded him of what he wanted to be as a hero as early as episode 2

@@xmant8842But it does matter, did you not see the world basically turn apocalyptic? Did you not see heroes quitting? Season 6 was not teaching us that the public's opinion did not matter, it was teaching us the opposite. The people need heroes, and the heroes need people.

@jordanpatterson8536 season 6 spoilers, obviously for me, season 6 showed me that the real heroes were the ones who would continue fighting no matter what people thought of them. It even showed that characters like Mt lady, who people would think were just doing it for the fame at first, were true heroes in the end who continued to try and help everyone despite what the people thought. Heck, people even said deku looked like a villain, but that never stopped him from fighting for them. Of course, I can't blame those who chose to give up. Like that one hero said, they're only human.

Yes and no. Most quirks are similar enough to the parent's but quite a lot of characters have the combination of their parents' (Shoto, Katsuki, etc.), their parent's but to a lesser degree (Tsuyu), or those whose quirks are completely different from their parents (Ochaco, Eri, etc.). Basically, it's highly unlikely that Yaoyorozus would be a bunch of people with Creation quirks. At least, without using quirk marriage and/or incest to keep it in the family.

Kota's letter is super cute because it's written entirely in hiragana, which is the basic syllabary that you learn first in japanese. The only Kanji, or the characters used to replace words that sound the same and have the same meaning, is his name. So it's even written in a way a kid would in japan.

The rescue mission arc is one of the best moments in this series. The uncomfortable conversations from the aftermath of the camp attack, to the foreboding stakes, and while the kids rush ahead, both the heroes AND villains move UNSETTLINGLY slow by comparison. This is just an insane episode on its own. Iida is in TOP FORM today. He is among my favorite characters not just because he’s silly, but when his seriousness MATCHES the tone of the circumstances, he secures himself as SUCH a well written character. He’s FURIOUS that Kirishima and Todoroki are pushing Deku to this issue. And THIS is why the pool filler episode is ACTUALLY important. It’s the 1st time Iida actually comes to terms that Deku’s selflessness isn’t his cleverness but THOUSANDS of leagues ahead of every factor of his personality and he sees Deku as a completely different person than he did in Season 1 where he didn’t believe this was really him. Now he knows and wants to protect him. Values his friendship because he KNOWS how much he cares. And seeing someone USE that even if it’s not intentional, has to be SO scary from the outside. And the kids are so conflicted none of them know where to stand in all this. Everyone has points but there’s lines in the sand for everyone. And that’s something Deku REALLY doesn’t have. The doctor comes in and gives us a STARK reality. Unlike in most other anime, people take absurd hit after absurd hit often with no consequences. And when it DOES have consequences it’s either REMARKABLY short, or the death of a character. Not in MHA. Injuries are long lasting consequences. PERMANENT damage. It’s not just a mark on your body, you take ONE look at one of these scars and you say you were MILLIMETERS from dying. That burn scar from Dabi’s fire makes Deku’s arm look like a BEAR bit him and ripped a chunk off! (The irony of Endeavor in season 2 saying incinerated cells can’t regenerate after exploding a Nomu.) You aren’t thinking oh good you’re alive. You’re thinking YOU HAVE ARMS STILL?! Not to mention the hysterical damage from Muscular. Just 2 or 3 arm uses. That’s IT. And his arms are DONE. IMMOBILE. The ligament damage is another level. Aside from raw OFA armor, one good hit with Deku’s guard down and that’s quite frankly it. And we’ve FINALLY come to the 1,000,000% punch. I called it 125%. The doctor’s hysterical strength explanation has specific roles in every human body. That’s true. HOWEVER, there’s a big difference between that and Deku’s body. Deku’s 100% in every moment til now is not 80% in disguise. There’s no possible way Deku’s body has any body limiters that stop OFA’s energy force at anything above his slipshod control. I don’t look at fried arms with no skin and shattered bone on them as restrained. And that’s why the true quirk of OFA being called stockpile is so important. It not only means he can store energy, but he can INCREASE it by stockpiling more energy. And his hysterical strength to match the doctor’s math from 80 to 100% is 100 to 125%. Deku in crisis stockpiles a hysterical boost. And there’s a reason the 100% doesn’t seem to decrease regardless of the split between Deku and All-Might. The full energy amount appears to be present. So that means stockpile is so unlimited it even sucks up energy expelled from the stockpile. Creating an endless increase. And THAT is how OFA has developed to its legendary status of today while split among half a dozen fraction splits between the 2 current holders. Deku makes his decision after he got his note from Kota. We knew he was going to make it. His selflessness is ENDLESS. His power is one person for all people. He’s saved DOZENS of lives with his actions during the camp attack. And he’s going to push for the next one. He’s pushing himself to the brink. And his mom is PETRIFIED. She doesn’t even know what he’s planning or ANY of the context. But she’s another string of seeing him in constant danger. It’s breaking her. This is SO hard to watch. And let’s not forget this decision is being made as the TOP heroes gather for this. EVERYONE. The number 3 hero isn’t there and neither is Ingenium. But pretty much every major hero big shot up til now is converging on this incident. Every season. The kids are walking up to the plate of something BIG. The villains are making their biggest move. Kidnapping and amber alerts are organized in VERY short spans in comparison to full investigations and they often require special investigations into likely culprits and locations they can find. I WEPT when Iida just BELTS Deku. Now that Iida understands what kind of man Deku truly is, and he values his own life SO LITTLE he is STILL not going to stop after EVERYTHING he’s been through, Iida is worried about Kirishima, Todoroki and Momo of course, but he’s SO scared for Deku. We’ve had fights where you shout STOP at Deku for going so far. This is his loving brother doing this for someone that they ALL know has put Deku through HELL. We are SO far beyond a SEMBLANCE of self preservation Iida can’t even FATHOM it anymore. So he’s going to keep them safe by keeping them alive and well. And the only way he can even insure that now is by coming himself. You could put these kids in CUSTODY and it wouldn’t be enough anymore. Momo takes the same strategy and gives them what they want. 2 reasons why she did this. To deflate them, and because if she didn’t, who knows if they wouldn’t go rogue and go storming into EVERY seedy area they could find looking for him. The 2 class reps just have to keep their crazy classmates blind selflessness in check. I also have to draw attention to Uraraka. Despite ALL of this UNBEARABLE pressure Deku has on his shoulders to be the perfect hero and to save EVERYONE he comes across in danger like All-Might did which wins over his mother’s practically TORTURED levels of concern now, and the built pressure of his classmates trying to stop him, AND the doctor’s warnings, the ONLY thing that stops Deku from his “duty” as the OFA wielder is Uraraka. And it’s higher than EVER now. It’s the ONLY time I wish she could have been more involved in a mission where she could have had relevance. I wish she was in this group as the other member of Deku’s true support system with Iida. Course if she did, it might be because of the student being too useful rule. Being able to stop Deku under his highest stress in both his mind and body is a PRETTY broken contribution when Deku is basically marked as “Too far gone” at this moment. And she probably COULD prevent his action if she truly tried. Iida has EVERY showstealer moment today. Momo wants to stall their team just a LITTLE longer and goes shopping and Iida is roleplaying a villain AGAIN and I LOVE it. (Pretty sure they’re dressed like the mob so people stay clear of them. Even if their disguises and actions are HYSTERICALLY bad acting.) And we end off on Bakugo finally breaking the cracked wine glass. They have nothing in common but Deku and Bakugo share the same willpower levels. Bakugo knows he’s no All-Might but he won’t entertain a deviation from the path. And successfully ticks off Shigaraki after all the hard work. Like Deku he has surpassed logic and sensing of danger for EVERY bit of his surroundings. And THIS is likely why nothing could deter Deku. A captive who is outmatched and wants to fight back is in even GREATER danger than a submissive captive. They all know nothing can stop EITHER of these two. And you gotta get them both out. But you can’t do that til you have eyes on them both.

There are people out there with faulty fight-or-flight mechanisms. It takes them varying degrees of stress to trigger that response. Out of all the research I've had to do on the subject, there's one thing I always default to. The _cost._ It gets progressively worse the more you push past 50% of your absolute maximum. Suffice it to say, that barring.. a puny starving ethiopian boy? _Practically any human_ can handle a human head like taking a swing at a watermelon with a claw hammer. However, in short order, the muscle tissue in your arm will die. Your limb will _later on,_ turn black, and you'll have to have it amputated. _I_ pushed to about 60-70% a few times in 3 years, and had to recover for a further 16. I was _significantly_ weaker as a result, until one day I wasn't. I've heard accounts of otherwise normal people in combat situations triggering basically time dilation- distorting their own perception of time. To the point where, for example, an officer ducked behind cover and was mesmerized by a spinning floating golden popcan- until 10 seconds later, from his perspective, he realized from the writing on it, that it was a shell casing, ejected from his gun. Beyond that... I'll give one bit of personal insight. If you get _pushed_ into that first panicked state? Colors become more vivid, smells and sounds become crisper and more noticeable. To the point where you can pinpoint WHERE the thing you're detecting is, in your head. You lose the ability to think in words, or register pain or fatigue. I've never experienced time dilation, but I _was_ able to go from _no stamina whatsoever,_ to keeping going at literally full tilt for around 30 minutes. Afterwards, I would collapse, completely drained, and suddenly very weak. It's not a superpower, because nothing can make us more durable. Nothing except denser bones- and that only means they snap a little less easily.\ Hope that helps. The average person at their maximum is worth around 3-4 other people. For rare edge cases, make that 5. EDIT: Oh, right, one more thing. In my experience, that 'casual limiter' of ours, unless we work out and exercise a HELL of a lot, is usually around 20-40%. You can only improve that by small amounts, the bigger and stronger you get normally.

This is the point where you really start to consider what's going on in a hero-influenced society. It's absolutely correct to understand that 'villain' is just a label, often describing actions or even just appearances that just don't fit the set rules that society has decided upon. I like to differenciate this from 'evil' because frankly, few of the villains are actually true evil. Yes, there are motives and they may not be taking the right actions, but they're also not really supported by society itself either. It'll make sense later on, but it really does reflect what real life is like for the neurodiverse, those with other physical and mental differences that don't fit a 'norm'.

i think the main reason that the league of villains targeted bakugou was not only because he wants to win, so they saw that as a possibility he could change sides, BUT ALSO because the so called "HEROES" put bakugou on display CHAINED UP AND MUZZLED to millions without his consent, like the guy was uncomfortable and did not want to be chained up. Ironically, the league of villains chained him up similarly, but most notably, they let him go to talk to him one-on-one, which is something that the HEROES didn't even do, like all might just unmuzzled him, but he was still chained up when he spoke to him. basically they're questioning the morals of these so called heroes and are they really acting to what's best for their students?? how is it okay to publically embarrass and tie up a student like that??? if bakugou truly refused to accept the trophy they should've just accepted he didn't want to come up on stage and just announced his name or something. but no, they didn't do that, b/c the 'public show' had to go on, and the sports festival is for everyone's 'entertainment' at this point!! Shigaraki also mentioned they've all been hurt and shunned in the past because of this hero society as well, they saw similarities and wanted to recruit bakugou because of those similarities! they noticed bakugou was treated completely differently than the other two students up on that stage and saw that as a flaw in hero society. I remember being shocked by Tsu's statement that they'd be villains if they acted like this. like for me conflating things to be 'bad' just cause you don't follow the rules is a bit ridiculous. I did understand Uraraka's reasoning where she took bakugou's pov into account and she personally thought he'd be embarassed to be saved by others, which shows that she understands bakugou's personality to a degree (cause honestly bakugou would hate the idea of 'being saved' at this point in the show). But it's important to note that deku, who REALLY KNOWS bakugou's personality, and that he'd hate to be saved, (like with the whole sludge villain), he STILL GOES anyways, because Deku is a hero at heart and he'll always want to chase after a person who needs saving if he knows they're out there! Ironically, would Stain consider them acting as heroes then, since they aren't doing it for money or power? they're literally just trying to save their friend that has been kidnapped in a 'stealth mission' so wouldn't stain consider this heroic since they aren't acting with monetary value in mind??? Deku's lack of self-preservation is definitely a topic that's gonna be expanded upon through the series... and i still think the guy struggles with it even in the current manga lmao.

I still really want an AU where Todoroki is targeted and recruited by the League instead of Bakugo here. They’d have a good case since Todoroki has seen first hand that the NUMBER TWO hero is actually a terrible person. With how logical Todoroki tends to be if they played their cards right at this point in the show, they might have had a chance at convincing him that hero society does need a change. Even if he didn’t end up fully joining the League, they might have been able to sway him enough for his doubt to cause issues or suspension among his classmates. To be fair his character design IS blatantly hostile looking. He has fire coming off of him, lots of sharp angles on his face, is always scowling, towering stature, etc. All of those things on their own are all well and good but put altogether like that, he’s clearly meant to look intimidating and unapproachable, it’s not much of a stretch to say his character design would suit a villain pretty well. ((Spoilers)) Him being scary looking is literally a plot point later so it’s definitely not just bias on her part. She’s observing trends in his character designs that are commonly used on evil characters.

Most shows/manga/comics/etc of this type usually try to tie a character's origin/backstory with their ultimate fate/role as a character (hero origin vs villain origin). With the four main boys of this show, they go through most of the broader categories: Deku started from nothing and both received a divine gift and had to build up from nothing; Iida is a legacy, having to live up to what was built by others before him; Todoroki was created/manufactured for a specific purpose; and Bakugo is the natural talent with raw ambition. Other works would have pinned one (or more) of them as the villain, depending on the kind of statement they wanted to make. Here, all four of them are heroes.

Coming from someone that dealt with debilitating carpal tunnel for a couple of years, having issues in ligaments/tendons is the worst. For a good 8 months after the initial injury I still couldn't use my hand properly, which sucked because it was my dominant hand. Writing for more than 30 seconds would send horrible shooting pain up to my shoulder, I had virtually no grip strength which led to me dropping a lot of stuff. And it didn't take much to correct. Deku absolutely would not be able to recover with repeated damage like that. And I injured myself putting up christmas decorations lol.

I still think to this day, that doctor was an amazing extra. To effectively express the severity and urgency of Midoriya's situation, then to cushion the weight of the whole endeavour by giving Kota's note, is TRULY amazing. He even addresses how "healing in the mind" is essential to the process, and offers the letter as a starting point.

I dunno if it's the majority or minority opinion, but I have no problem with Iida punching Midoriya this episode. I don't even need to explain Iida's reasonings, as he makes them CRYSTAL clear right after, and I agree with him. If I saw my friend continually put himself in danger, and was about to do it again, I'd do what I could to stop them, too.

It’s the Batman fallacy, a criminal breaks into a vault and steals money, during the heist he injuries security guard, cashiers and civilians and gets away. Batman goes looking for the criminals, to find them he must break in and steal information from a corporate 3rd party connected to the villain during which he injuries security guards. He finds the criminal who gets into a car to get away, a high speed chase begins involving major property damage. The criminal and Batman fight and Batman captures the criminal. Now we call him a hero because he did the right thing however he employs the same methods the criminal uses in order to capture him breaking and entering, theft, assault and battery, reckless endangerment and property damage, the criminal goes to jail but Batman walks away. Batman breaks the law to do good and we accept this however by the letter of the law he is a criminal, while the kids would not be villains in the traditional sense they would be vigilante which is criminal if they used their quirks to harm the villains which if you take away intent is the same thing the villains do, “I hurt the villain to stop them” “I hurt the boy because he was trying to stop me” etc. It’s why there can be a difference between doing things right and doing the right thing.
@tofu_golem

Tsuyu is right. This society has strict rules about the use of quirks precisely because things went so bad when they didn't have those rules in place. Someone who won't uphold those rules is threatening the order of things. As you will see later, some villains are motivated by the desire to end those rules restricting quirk use.

I believe what Tsu said in the sub version was something along the lines of "if you go around doing whatever you want, those actions are no different from a villians". I think the part about intentions was there still there, but this sub version makes more sense than the breaking rules to do something heroic makes it not heroic. In my opinion at least but i do get it

I am still surprised to this day that people forget Shigaraki getting hes face hand punched off by All-Might and apologising to his father while picking up the hand. It was so distinct than, and I was not surprised to see it here as well. It more illustrates how Shigaraki has changed since than with how calm he is this time around. Its a good reminder.

Coming from someone who has watched all of MHA 7 times (8 if u count my current rewatch I'm doing rn and even more if u count all the times I've watched reactors watch it) and also have been given a shit ton of spoilers for the manga. Montana is pretty spot-fuckin-on with everything she's been saying, including this video. I don't really understand how after watching all of the anime that's out you (Kenny) could still be so, seemingly unwaveringly, in support of hero society & the idea of "heroes" and "villains". And the whole comparinh Montana to Stain thing, be it a joke or not is weird cuz... He wasn't really wrong either. The way he went about it was absolutely NOT okay and NOT acceptable and never will I say otherwise. But the base ideas aren't as wrong as you seem yo think they are.

This is also why Bakugo is like my joint favourite character (I'm too much of a simp for Shigaraki @.@) the LoV decided just because he's an angry boy that he could be pursuaded to the side of evil. Katsuki Bakugo may call Midoriya a nerd, but he's actually far more straight laced than a LOT of the class if you put aside the anger. Like.... seriously, another thing to keep in mind, Bakugo is far more of a good boy than he looks on the surface..... and it's kinda sweet lol. 22:10 - LOL. yeah. Hot Aizawa. He actually cleans up pretty nice.

I remember when first saw this, I thought "let them, these kids know what there doing and the teachers are doubting them." That was like 6 years ago. Right now I'm writing a a story in the perspective of a vigilante that's protecting the MC and attends a hero school, so she has to "follow the rules" and go through loopholes. The issues with out group is that they're still kids and have only one semester of training. They going not into the lion's den but a dragon's den in hell. They could die and their school right now is in a delicate situation. "Go throw yourself into traffic." Always cracks me up. The media being the media. Those damn vultures. This world those the word Hero and Villain around so much. You see that common thief or pick pockets are villains, when I think of villains I think someone that attacks and destroy an entire city, kidnaps a hero love interest and broadcasts it. Like I said before, vigilante are also called and treated like villains. If they get caught, Pro-Heros and cops are allowed to arrest them even if they were helping. In, Vigilantes the spin-off series, Endeavor lets of an attack not caring if The Crawler (a vigilante) gets caught in it because he is technically and legally a villain. Total BS on the HSPC part, I'll call it dangerous and reckless but villains?! Throw yourself into traffic. Unfortunately for The League, Bakugou wants to win as a Hero and boy is he stubborn. Growing up only Heroes win and never give up, which is why he never back down from a challenge. People's reactions are very reasonable. It happens even in real life. They should be held accountable and children's safety is serious. Yes, the media doesn't try to present U.A.'s side, they that's more of the media wanting to sell a story. We can see how frustrated the teachers are that this is happening. With their budget and relationship with the students, they can improve, can't say the same with schools in the US.

I've watched the whole series and I love Endeavor as a character, but he is a terrible person. He didn't just "make a mistake", he ruined multiple lives in pursuit of his own selfish desires. He hit his wife and his son on at least one occasion. He drove his wife to a mental break, and did other spoilery things that were deplorable. Being a parent is hard, but he didn't even try.

Also I agree with Mrs Montana however in the case with stein Ida went fully intending to find stein and do away with him himself resulting in needing to be rescued by his other non licensed counterparts which I belive plays apart in why people aren't allow to go do what they want with there quirks with out prober training and test to know they with act accordingly with them. Which is why the police chief stated "it ok to break the rules along as it goes well" sarcastically there suppose to be checks and balances. And a heros actions represent more than just them selves and in this case their actions represents the schools aswell which is already in hot water.
