I notice you have a playlist of seven videos of Balakirev's piano works. I am having a relaxing Sunday afternoon listening to all of them on your channel. Thank you

This pedestrian plonking does this colorful music no justice.

Balakirev’s First Scherzo is just as any First Scherzo should be: demonically powerful, an outburst of transcendental bedevilling; bonus points for the darkest key possible-h moll. 4:08--4:20 is the perfect way to descend in a fathomless abyss of the Russian Late Romantic grieving. I just do not understand why the whole turmoil was ended in major. Why-y? Why did he charm away the darkness?

Why call it a "joke", though? Black humour?

@@MaestroStefanoPetrini A synesthesia is a subjective matter, every musician or a person with perfect pitch that has a synesthesia views musical notes as different colors; to me the darkest key is the C sharp minor which is totally dark and black, while the B minor is rather dark grey; the E major and the E minor are the two shades of blue to me

Good! Better than Chopin. Worse than Scriabin. Nevertheless ― good! Exclusively my opinion.
