Probably Byz had better eco overall. One thing to remember is that when you buy resources at the market they count towards your income, but they don't discount the gold you used for it. So when one gets 130 gold and buys 100 food, the total income accounted for is 260 instead of the actual 100 the player have.

How does trade work? Does it trade one of your resources for another? For example, you trade your own food to get gold?

the market prices are shared so if you sell food, the amount of gold you get for it decreases both for you and your opponent

There are 2 types of trade, both often called by the same names and done through the marketplace. The trade that you do through trader units just creates resources out of thin air by having your traders go back and forth between markets, this trade costs nothing other than the initial investment of buying the traders. The other trade is indeed what you describe, although it specifically works through gold. So you can sell resources to get gold, or spend gold to get other resources, with the prices shifting based on how much you (and your opponent) buy and sell.

Byzantine needs a buff in feudal, they have nothing vs any form of early heavy units or feudal knight civs

Isn't that the case for many civs? Japan Abassid Ottoman Delhi until recently and that's only a small buff Here ( do maa counter fuedal knights? No)

@@Xcvb4321 Japan and HRE have their own heavy units so they do fine vs other civs that have MAA in feudal. And MAA do not counter knights but combine them with spears and they do decently enough because the MAA cant be sniped by archers. Byzantine cant kill MAA nor knights. Their limetanei drop in attack speed when they put up shield wall, making them actually weaker vs knights. And without the shieldwall they just get picked off by archers while the knights deal with the horsemen. I never said Byz was the only civ, but byz has a very slow startup on top of having no counter to heavy units. Other civs do not have that double negative

I agree they need a little help in feudal. Can't overbuff em tho. I think the limitanei shield wall in its current form is a bit too good. I wouldnt mind seeing it reduced to 35-40% and something regarding early cisterns (maybe 4 instead of 5 tiers starting at 10%) to help their early start.

Another non heavy unit civ would be Ottomans but having meters buffs and extra unit count from military schools helps edge out the lack of early heavy units. But with Byz it seems hopeless against a Fuedal heavy rush. Limetinais are too food heavy, horsemen trade poorly, and Olive oil takes too long to come into play for a fuedal rush.

Out of ranked matchs, ... byzantin is the most fun civ in the game. But i dont perform well with them, like my mongol/rus.

Why is byz the worst in middle ranks (gold and plat) but it’s winrate gets closer to 50% if you go up or down in elo 😂

A great and inspiring byz game from "the worst player of all time". limitanei + longbows seems too strong. Only thing that I didn't understand was 4th age landmark choice. wouldnt it be better with other landmark? That way longbows get their special skill too.

Palatine school is deceptively strong. Everyone thought it would be trash, specially compared to FEC, but it turned out it's actually bonkers

Palatine school is basically a 30% discount. It's what finally makes byzantines' core army affordable. Combine that with olive oil and mercenary houses, no one can put more army on the field faster than you
