Spike is REALLY good at sniping the meta with the brewer’s advantage for a league or two and then moving off those decks before people realize they aren’t actually good.

The decks may not be good in the long term, but they are good in a context, usually. It's respectable considering some people can't build decks that are good in any context.

Just remember, a very solid win rate overall is around 60%. That is an average of a 3-2 per league. That doesn't FEEL good, especially is your 60% is heavily slanted in one way or the other depending on the day. I will say that the occasional brew that is reasonable, but weird and people don't know how to combat it is an advantage and that is very different when compared to a very tried and tested deck that wins just as much even if someone is expecting it.

When discussing if a deck is good you need context. A deck might wreck a tournament because it was positioned well against the meta, then be crap the rest of the time. Spike is clever, sometimes too clever for his own good, and often stubborn about his choices.

spike mentioned recently that he stops playing decks when he feels like there’s nothing new to add, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have faith in it, just that it’s not on his list of things to test anymore

Yeah, the old intro was more of a punk/alternative library song (KZbin's music library calls it "Punk Donuts"), whereas this new song is more Metal.

I normalize audio gain in all my videos. Everything is exactly as loud as everything else.

OP is probably just saying it feels louder by contrast due to it being metal while your voiceover is pretty softspoken (and I agree with them)

@@harrisonlorens3585 I mean, he's right, I don't hear any difference in volume between the intro and the rest of the video. There's more noise because its a song and not just a voice, but it's not any louder. I don't think it's weird to respond to "Your intro is louder" with "I normalize the audio so it can't be louder". He could say "I will look into it" but then OP will just say the same thing in the next video because the audio is already normalized.

I think the actual trap card of the deck is Counterbalance. So many times you were just hoping for a blind flip to get value. It happened a few times, but not enough to really be worth 4 slots IMHO. I love the idea of this deck, it just needs a much more proactive game plan that rewards cheap cantrips. I really like Thopter Sword for this deck, which is the direction I've done in the past.

The main reason why this deck was picking up some motion before the violent outburst ban was because of how you could counterbalence the suspend spells with lands on top. Know we all know control decks get worse in more open metas this deck gets quite alot harder to build post ban. That with play patterns becomes less straight forward and overall i dont think this deck is bad but it makes sense Spike doesnt steam it anymore.

I think some card choices could be further talked about, like why Oust or Opt instead of Path/prismetic ending and Consider. I guess Spike already covered those in his video?

Spike has discussed these ad nauseum, if you watch his miracles vids on his channel. Path to exile is not a modern playable card, it's SO bad, and prismatic is basically coming off 2 colors in this deck which just isnt good.

Opt probably because it's an instant speed way to manipulate the top of the deck (and this deck has exactly 1 card that cares about it's graveyard, but kinda has to care about the possibility of going to decking in a long game)

You play this deck really well ! Fortunately modern aint pioneer, and control sucks lol. I would suck so much if i tried this deck, probably would go 0-5 or 1-4. First match i confirm what the player himself wrote in the mtgo chat: creativ player made just so many mistakes it would take a very long time to wirte them all down. I am an occasional creativity player, and i sometimes play just as bad (if i am on a really bad day)

I respect your choice and understand wanting a shakeup but I prefer the old intro. There's no shortage of content that opens with aggressive metal/punk songs and the previous track fits the mood of chilling to watch Legacy (usually) after work much better imo. I think loud intros are justified for like, blacksmithing or powerlifting vids but I just want to watch some rectangles rotate man Anyway it's not gonna stop me from watching or anything but just wanted to get the opinion out there, appreciate the content 👍

Isn't spelunking and amulet of vigor a bug? "Lands enter the button untapped" is a replacement effect without an option. Amulet of Vigor is a triggered ability that only happens if a land enters the battlefield tapped.

“This land enters tapped” printed on lands is also a replacement effect. The owner of the affected object decides what order multiple replacements are applied.

In regards to the beginning of this video, I'll say that from what spike has said on his stream, he has no real interest in grinding a deck even if he thinks it is meta breaking if he doesn't think there are still innovations he can make. This can be exemplified by him moving on from cascade beans even while the deck was continuing to surge in popularity. So I'd guess he still probably thinks this deck is alright, he just stops playing decks if he runs out of new ideas.
