I despise narrow metas and disagree strongly with competitive players who want them. Wide formats are fun and I really feel they better reward good deckbuilding and selection versus tier zero formats where you may only decide between a few cards.

Yep. I agree a frickin BILLION times over lol. It's largely why Modern, and prior to it, Extended, were my go to formats in Magic. Having a half dozen decks is considered a good, healthy diverse meta in Magic Standard, and it's like, NO! The more good cards, and the more diverse decks that can be made from those cards, rewards deck building, which is a part of the game that should matter. Being able to play your deck of choice well should also be a part of a measure of skill. I was using my own version of Blurple before it became more popular, and the deck had a weakness to aggro. Once I fixed that, it became all about me controlling the battlefield until it was time to win. It was a truly rewarding process to be able to build the deck, test it, evolve it, and then refine my lines of play until it became a very consistent deck with a lot of options for any given situation. I get that all players can't build decks. That's fine. Use a meta deck that's been proven in that case. But if there are all of 2 best decks, then it just comes down to who draws what first. That was my biggest issue playing agaisnt Amethyst/Ruby; it was never hard to beat. It was painfully linear and very obvious as to what was coming next. It was just boring and not a learning experience in any way such that I could become a better player because of battling agaisnt it. Diverse metas, whether you build decks or not, makes us all better players.

it's fun but not competitive. What you want is a non competitive format.

@@netherlim "Non competitive" what do you mean by that? I competed a ton in Set 3 format across 10 set champs and had plenty of enjoyable, but competitive and skill testing games in doing so. And we are about to see thousands compete this weekend in that format. It tests different kinds of skills, but I think it is plenty competitive.

Man just imagine a 2k+ event with people only playing 2 decks. Where is the diversity and creativity in that? If you are competitive enough you would want to play around different decks whether its a counter to yours. I am happy that we have a diverse meta in lorcana right now and i hope it doesn't end up like mtg modern.

@@AkGaming-cc2zq to be fair, there are plenty of decks that work in Modern. The problem is that too many players latch onto the new "hotness," especially on MTGO. The online meta is stale because you've got the same small group of players competing agaisnt one another, and they don't dare step outside of that meta when it comes to the ranked stuff.

I want to thank you for fighting for us on round 3 with the judges. I wish I had known we could have appealed again. I hope your competition for remaining of tournament was good. I knew I recognized you, but I was sooooo stressed and frustrated by the judge error that I will say wrecked by entire competition, having no match in round 4 and my points were not right even though I tried to get corrected multiple times until round 8. Therefore, I was not paired correctly until round 8. Again thank you for trying to correct with the judges. I wish I had run back into you to say thank you better when I had somewhat calmed down.

While Diversity is a nice sentiment I prefer a 1a 1b format just because then it’s a matter of who played the best deck and there is still creativity and techs within the meta. Having 6+ decks in a game with no side board to put cards in to cover the bad matches when you see them sucks.

Ravensburger screwed up by not allowing sideboards. A diverse meta is ALWAYS better than "Pick this deck, or pick that deck, or you lose."

@@Xoulrath_ yeah. Competitive Lorcana is dogshit due to that. I don't think the game will survive six months more;

@@netherlim the game will survive because it's good. It will survive because plenty of Disney collectors will buy these cards up, just like the Pokémon collectors who have kept that "game" alive. Competitive events, however, might be a different story. No Best of 3, no sideboards, and no stores being given promos that matter to promote weekly play and sales will have to be fixed or I don't see competitive Lorcana mattering.

You prefer everyone running the same two decks? That's awful. A variety of decks is way more competitive. You actually have to be good to win. Meta decks are lazy.
