I usually drink 2 PINTS of beer before I go to the gym and 2 more after I give up on going to the gym...I usually think about going to the gym every day. This is my routine and I feel great!

I drink a pint before and after my workout. I also drink an entire keg intra workout for the electrolytes. Only downside so far is that I have to piss every 3 minutes

I drink of a weekend sometimes 10 cans sometimes 6. I eat healthy but one thing you have to watch is a fatty liver and blood pressure. Alcohol definitely affects those I listed

For the average person, 95% of the time staying away from alcohol and 5% treating yourself to a few drinks is gonna be safe and not impact your gainz. For bodybuilders it's probably more like 99% and 1%

Lol, alcohol isn't doing shit. You'll build just as much muscle and strength if you go out and drink than if you don't. And yes, of course, drinking like an alcoholic Is surely going to hinder your 'gains' and strength but the rest is pretty much exaggerated by science. Also, if you're a bodybuilder, then everything that can change your body position should be approached with caution.

If you train hard 3-4 weeks and then have light week/week off completely there will be huge impact if you get drunk every friday instead of sleep well 2 days. Sounds to me that it's just an excuse to drink every weekend. "it's not gonna affect anything"

I was a gym junky for 10 years and the biggest mistake i made to kill gains during that time was going on a bender at least 2 or 3 times per week. Usually on the weekends. It would make me feel incredibly tired so i didn't have the energy to lift as much as i could have otherwise and it would also make me miss having those well needed meals. Regardless, i was still incredibly lean, muscular and fit. But i could have been a hell of a lot more stronger and muscular if i hadn't been out on the piss so much. Still, it was fun while it lasted.

Thanks for bringing this up. As Lee said moderation is the key, and for me. I switched to light beer (yuck) which helped, it took a long time to get used to it though. The carbs/calories in good beer was killing my progress. Read the label of a good Craft or German beer, it's not good.

Problem with alcohol is not just the calories , for a long time after you drink your liver is concentrating on breaking down the ethanol and study show in that period it's not processing fats a few pints a week is fine , every night is stupid

This is great advice from Lee! unless your prepping for a comp a couple,few beers, Bourbons whatever is actually OK!, i'd have to say not every day! Myself I like to leave my beers till Friday n Saturday, maybe a couple Sunday arvie but then I have none all week, I find i pack weight on from the food that gos in! be it good or bad, I do notice I seem to get a bit of a rip n pump from the beers on the weekend! thats just me but WOW @ Lees advice, a couples OK!

37 now and never liked alcohol in any kind of flavor. I don't understand how i got drunk when i was 17'ish since i never liked it. It keeps me so much younger then other guys who are same age but drink alcohol regularly. I keep onto my muscles a LOT easier as well.

I think the problem beer is it takes away your control, what I mean is you’ll crave more junk food. However one or two pints per week probably harmless like Lee said as long as you’re training, eating and sometimes a beer or drink can relax you do better sleep win win

problem with drinking alcohol frequently and moderation is that you can start building tolerance. From having a glass of wine every single day, it can soon start getting to 2 or 3 glasses of wine. That's why I stay away from it, plus I work in a healthcare job where I need my brain to function at higher capacity to make quick decisions that could impact people's health, so that's another big no no for alcohol.

drink red wine, i cut down while drinking red wine and tuna and eggs, but best to cut slowly. And the worst part about alcohol is it effects my sleep, so funny enough i have less alcohol when gaining and more when cutting. Been lifting for 2 and a half years and am 45 now but people seem to notice the difference. For people who dont like red wine try red wine with sugar free ginger ale

I love beer. But it disrupts protien synthesis. Increases estrogen and makes you fatter. I personally find that my workouts are weaker after I drink.

Alcohol is one of the worst things you can consume when it comes to bodybuilding. Not just the calories but the effects it has on your body. It slows everything down. A 6 pack once a week is fine. Any more than that will cause problems and definitely affects gains. Lee isn’t the best person to speak on this since he doesn’t drink.
