Plasma Deck turns Chips into Mult, so you will be successful as long as you're able to find enough Chips, with Planet Cards being the most consistent source.
Before the 101 Patch, the Orange Stake made it difficult to obtain Planet Cards, and the Gold Stake made it difficult to play the Poker Hands which would reward higher amounts of Chips. You were really dependent on getting Chips Jokers, which are rare relative to other types of Jokers.
With the 101 Patch, it is easier to obtain Chips but not guaranteed.

I feel like plasma deck baits you into playing into chips early, which makes it harder to build into mult later. I feel like playing more into + and x mult would be more beneficial, as mult has a higher potential.

It's not necessarily bait. All of this is in the context of having x2 scoring requirements for all Blinds. Early on (Antes 2-4), +Mult options don't contribute enough to keep up with the growing Blinds, while even just one +Chips Joker gives you more than enough, allowing you to bank resources and fill out the rest of your build. xMult will outpace +Chips, in theory, but you will need a large amount of xMult. Even here with Triboulet, Sock, Glass, and Steel, we still have Chips outpacing Mult even to the end. You will have an easier time assembling five Common +Chips Jokers than assembling that much xMult. Starting at 40 Mult, it takes 4 instances of x2 to pass 500 Mult. And you will still have less than 1/3 of the score needed to clear the final boss (because of the x2 Blind size).

This gold stake streak is seriously impressive, makes me realise I could have optimised more on runs where I think I've lost to just RNG.

It's also crazy how successful he is even with usually having one or two jokers that do not help, but are picked just for the gold stickers

Dude playing on orange stake rn trying to beat a run I’ve sunk like 10 hours into it and haven’t gotten a single win it’s so frustrating just playing with barely being able to buy any booster packs just feels terrible I’ve beaten all other stakes on my first or second try but the difficulty spike is just so immense

@@calebliang4984 you should play on the experimental beta which reworks orange and gold stakes, it's a lot more fun and less frustrating

@@calebliang4984 Do try on the easier decks like the checkered deck.They make scoring on the earlier antes a breeze. On the current patch(1.0.0n), do note that higher scoring plays like straights,full houses are disincentivized due to -1 hand size. One of the best combos is like Square Pants, Spare Trouser with Burnt Joker. Burnt Joker is the single best card (for easier consistent wins) and makes even a High Card a winning run as in each round you get a planet card. If you only care about winning right now, reroll until you get a high scoring chips like stuntman or even the castle or + mult like banana, supernova card in the first shop and play until ante 2 to find the burnt joker. If you do not find, just reset. Note this strat is hard to pull off due to it hinging on finding burnt joker but once you do get the burnt joker, it is a guaranteed win. Also, this is not the only way to win but is much easier

@@calebliang4984 I seriously doubt he'd be able to get this streak on the current main game version, but he's playing on the 1.0.1 beta branch which has a lot of changes, including removing the increasing pack cost from orange stake.

u actually ended with slightly more mult than chips bc of the polychrome ! the final mult was only onscreen for 0.2s though, so it's easier to tell by your chips increasing after being balanced. also, with 4 doubling effects (x24 in total /w poly), the empress card adds more value than hierophant which amounts to a ~230k difference in the final hand. (though u could also just take both since u cant really use a chariot against bell anyway)

Plasma deck is pretty funny. Because there are more +mult and x-mult it doesn't even really help with scoring late and post late game. If there was like x-chip or something, you could scale really hard with bull/arrowhead and then some kind of x-chip, but yeah I think it really highlights how chips and mult are very different scoring components.

Idea for a new spectral card: Exorcism: Removes all stickers from a random joker, sets money to zero. Maybe it should be remove all modifications instead, stripping editions too?

@@themobius5798 Challenges aren't an issue, they already have restrictions on what can appear, so just add it to the restricted list for joker-centric challenges.
