Balatro Review - Calculated Evil? or Perfect Switch Game?

This game is everything you say. I definitely think it’s a worthy purchase on Switch or Steam. Best deck builder I have played yet. It’s dopamine hit wears down but be aware, it’s fun, fun, fun.

Great review! I personally give the audio and soundtrack a 9 or 10 because of how many of the sound effects have tonality and it makes the game have more personality. Kinda like picking up an apple or finding a new item in Breath of the Wild. You remember these sounds, and they add to the game. I also love how the soundtrack is divided into 5 different loops and they are triggered at certain times and they flow really well when transitioning to each one, staying in a suitable key and pulse. The music itself is pretty hypnotic because rather than creating a repeated melody you remember by character association, its more of a hypnotic background/ambient theme that is integral because it evokes the feeling of what is happening on the screen. There are many games for me where I feel a disconnect because of the music not fitting, or becoming too repetitive. Balatro really knocks it out of the park in this aspect.

This is too addictive. I thought my Slay the Spire addiction was bad, but I cant put this down at all. Ive not managed a complete run yet. Got to the final boss 3 times then lost.

It really is so ridiculously addictive. I think about playing when I'm at work. I finally beat the red deck on Sunday... Then the blue deck on Tuesday.... X Multis is key! Much better than +Multis!

It's only 50% good. There are too many crap jokers and even crappier booster packs. It's a game if you like grinding endlessly.

I think there is a lot more strategy that you aren't employing. I don't find it to be an endless grind, you just have to really start planning your runs the further along you get in the decks.
