I am Indian and have been traveling around India for the last three years, and I can say that there are many places which are dirty, mostly due to high density of very poor people living there & no waste management system, but at the same time there are many places that are very clean. India is a very diverse country and several states have culture of high cleanliness, hygiene & overall better standard of living; such as Kerala, Goa, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Arunachal, Nagaland, Mizoram etc. Most of the dirty and unhygienic places are in the poorer and denser states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra etc. It is us the people of India who need to clean up our act and we are aware of our problems. Foreigners are free to give constructive criticism, but to label the entire country is unfair to many as they live in clean and green societies.

According to a WHO report Kerala has better living standards than entire eastern europe, balkan regions and few western european nations. My state is also ranked above Switzerland or any other western nation in nature beauty index. But I see very few tourists here compared to Delhi or other northern regions. No matter how poor a country is, there will always be at least some nice locations. And India isn't even poor. They finance a space program while the people have to suffer from the exceptionally bad pollution, infrastructure, poverty etc. You say they should held accountable for the things they say, but I think the government should held accountable too. And that’s where most of the criticism is directed.
@david1george2 ай бұрын
@ZeroPM Are you saying that the Indian government should be held accountable to the West? A country with over 1/5 of the world's population should be held accountable to countries like Britain and the US? No one understands the country of India better than their citizens and it is up to their citizens to hold their government accountable and to vote for how their country should evolve. It's a democracy. Bald, Ben and Colin are not symbolic figure heads for change like Ghandi. Bald is literally calling India a s***hole. They are foreigners who trashed a country in their videos to the West to such a degree that after a Western traveller watches their toxic videos they no longer want to visit. Foreigners could still have a great vacation there without going to these poor areas.

Asking for 20 Rupees is like calling a black person the N word. You are defaming the hard workers. If they would have put an official board with different rates for foreigners then you would pay that. That wouldn't be called a scam then will it? Officially in many countries you have different rate slabs. But asking for 20 Rupees i.e. 1/5th of a dollar for any commute involving Gas/petrol is inhuman act.
@david1georgeАй бұрын
@magnetoflux No, it's not. It's a starting point in a negotiation just like the rickshaw driver asking 250 rupees. You are comparing apples to oranges. You call a black person the N word, you'll get punched in the face. I have never heard of someone getting punched for negotiating with a taxi driver in Delhi unless it was after the trip and they never negotiated the price before the ride. Locals pay around 60 rupees, not 300, for that trip. There's thousands of youtube videos proving this. The driver accepted 85 rupees, even though google maps says the 17km trip is a 250 Rupee ride (which is your official board with a different rate for foreigners). BTW, the same trip by city bus is only 10 Rupees, and the airport express using the world class newer metro built in 2001 (which is a lot faster because it's a subway) is only 60 Rupees. So why would a local pay more than 60 rupees to get there? There is a basis for that offer. Minimum wage in India is $65 a month. But, rents and food are also a lot cheaper than in the US. You can't compare the taxi ride to the US. Washington has a $2735/month min. wage, yet the same people making that amount can't even afford monthly rent in Washington. It's all relative.
@magnetofluxАй бұрын
@david1george In the name of negotiation, what is your starting price. That defines your negotiation skills, starting with 1 cent isn't an option when the price in uber is 2-3 dollars, isn't it? You don't ask for 90% discount in any product when you know the gas, the vehicle, the labour has some cost attached to it. Isn't it modern day slave owner mentality?
@david1georgeАй бұрын
@@magnetoflux Where do you get 90% discount? He offered 25 and got it for 85, which is 30%. He also didn't start with 1 cent because 1 cent is less than 1 Rupee. But the previous scammer cabbie asked for 300 for the same trip and he got it for 30% of that offer, so both parties use the same strategy. It has nothing to do with slavery because if he doesn't like the price he can refuse or counteroffer. Slavery means you don't have a choice, and the cabbie always has a choice.
