bald and bankrupt

Күн бұрын

🇮🇳 I had read a lot about Dharavi, Mumbai's and the world's biggest slum. I had seen videos of the squalor and poverty to be found there but I wanted to go and see another side, I wanted to see if I could find some joy there, some happiness, some hope. And so whilst in Mumbai I set off in search of Dharavi intending to see for myself how life was progressing there. Join me on a wild adventure through the world's largest slum.

I am Indian-American and this white British dude speaks more Hindi in this video than I have in my entire life. Granted, my parents never taught me Hindi/Punjabi, but you'd think I'd at least learn it through osmosis. But that never happened. I went to India once in the 90's and I swore I'd never go back. And I went to all the nice places with luxury amenities lol. We had private drivers, private security details, wealthy family members, etc. but I was still miserable. I was a young teenager then and it was a complete culture shock. Now I'm a middle aged man and would like to go back one day. I'll try to walk around like Ben and just smile and have a good attitude. This dude is inspiring.

You have shown Dharavi better than anyone could have. I am getting to see a part of my country through your videos. You have humanised the people living there instead of showing them in a negative light. Brilliant video. Loved it. It's sad that real estate mafia and politicians of Mumbai have created a massive housing shortage in Mumbai that has led to the creation of slums. Mumbai has almost no affordable housing schemes. There are either slums or premium condos.

@KoivuTheHab Your mindset is sickening, it is fascistic and extremely ignorant. The fulfillment of basic needs, does not necessitate higher education, in fact those in India who work in jobs, that fulfill basic needs, are mostly the uneducated and part of the lower casts, those are the people farming the land, building houses and overworking in factories to make peoples cloth. While their work might have a lower impact to society, than that of a highly skilled person, the payment should at least be proportional to that impact and not exponentially exaggerated towards higher positions. These people are exploited by the rich and powerful, though they can buy one additional ferrari, while an 8 year old kid has to work 12 h everyday to not starve to death, while being exploited by the rich person, so they can buy another luxury car. At the same time having many children is the only option for the poorest, to get a chance of security, for when they can't provide anymore, because of health or old age. The chance of one of their kids getting a decent job, that can feed them and the rest of the family, is often the only hope these people have, if we would stop exploiting people and provide at least a half decent fulfillment of basic needs to everyone (including pensions or equivalents), those people would not have many kids, because they would not need them to survive and people would also have the option, of getting a, education which lowers birth rates even more. If the bottom 95% would be gone, the top 1% could not keep their living standards and their "wealth" would crumble due to a hyperinflation, they would not have enough people to exploit anymore and automation is at least a few decades off from completing entire supply and production chains in these places. The elites are sitting on a pyramid made out of slaves and if that pyramids foundation crumbles, they will fall.

Bald and bankrupt is truly the best vlogger of all time, that I know of. His ability to just go full throttle on friendlessness and also humility at the same time, while sticking out like a sore thumb, is just absolutely remarkable. The removal of ego from the conversation allows him to speak to anyone. I must study this technique more closely...

I agree with you man between him and Harald Baldur, I never even seen what India was partially like thanks to these guys. Bald is in Azerbaijan and Harald is in Nepal lol I wonder if they'll vlog together again - The Hotel Break in is by far the funniest lol they were being called Terrorists
