There is a war of making Slaanesh more insidious while more accessible. Replace the domain of excess with obsession. This would allow Slaanesh cultist to be mostly the same, but with a less overt angle. It also gives slaanesh a unique angle to attack from. All of Slaanesh’s cultists are obessed with something, a goal, a dream, a skill, something. This obsession could be anything, from becoming a better warrior to being a good painter. Sensation & pleasure may be slaanesh’s domains but would be less important than Obsession. Nothing else matter but the cultist’s goal. Not even themselves in some cases. Just a pitch.

My favorite Slaanesh story is from the Daemons of Chaos 7th Edition Codex. Slaanesh costructs and presents the Chalices of Lies, Entrophy, and War to the other gods. As they are all as attacted to Slaanesh as they are repelled, all acept their gift. Nurgle and Tzeentch accept glad despite themselves to be thought worthy of the Dark Princes attention. Khorne however could not resolve his wrathful nature with the peculiar attaction that Slaanesh aroused. So, he smote his Chalice a might blow shattering it. Yet, even as the shards fell to the ground , Khorne felt compelled to gather the fragments together. For many days and nights, Khorne worked to restore the chalice, only to dash it apart again in a fit of rage. The Blood God has since recreated and destroyed the Chalice of war untold times...

Something I rarely hear anyone mention is the appropriateness of Slaanesh having 6 as its sacred number. 6 is the first of the "Perfect Numbers." What could be more appropriate for the Prince of Perfection. What is a perfect number? The factors of 6, besides itself, are 1, 2, & 3. Adding up these factor of 6, 1+2+3 = 6 we get the number 6 itself. A perfect number is any number such that the sum of its factors, besides itself, add up to the number itself. Unlike the other Chaos gods, Slaanesh does not keep out people from their realm. However, Slaanesh still needs to keep others out of their own palace, so the Circles work well as a bar to reach the prince itself, while still giving the many boons The Prince of Pleasure has to offer.

Slaanesh is fascinating from a metaphysical perspective. I believe that ultimately, should they subsume their brothers, dominate the mortal realms and become all that is or ever will be in the Warp, bereft of new sensations and passions, the pendulum will swing back and Slaanesh will find joy in creation, starting from zero, essentially resetting it all, even themselves because with that much power, what could be more excessive than remaking the universe and experiencing all those sensations again as if for the first time? TL;DR- I think Slaanesh always wins and always acts as the universal reset button

Slaanesh is the most pernicious and insidious of the Four, despite what Tzeentch might say. Even the most zealous servant of the Imperial Inquisition must at sometimes rest and take nourishment and when they do, if they take the slightest bit of comfort or joy in it, they have fed She-Who-Thirsts. And they also stand upon the precipice, for it is not only the Eldar who are prone to extremes. Humans, all too often, tend towards the extreme; the odd, the bizarre and the fanatical.

I mean if they only feel the slightest bit, then Slannesh doesn't get fed. Slannesh isn't fed from pleasure, joy or any such thing like that. Slannesh is fed by excess and extreme versions of emotions. So if you're happy, that goes to Tzneetch. If you're the happiest you've every been, radiating joy around you noticeable by others, thats Slannesh. If you're pissed off and kill someone, that goes to Khrone. If you're pissed off and kill someone via torture and enjoy it, that goes to Slannesh. If you're a lazy piece of shit who is at beast apathetic, that goes to Nurgle. If you're so apathetic that not moving has caused your body to cramp up in pain, but you're still just too lazy to move, that feeds Slannesh. That is why Slannesh is feared by the others, that is why Nurgle removes the pain of his children, why Khorne kills people fast. Its why the downward spiral for Slaneesh is a lot faster and a lot harder than the other Gods.

I was once very much into fitness and pushing myself. It became normal to feel soreness and pain everyday. As I moved, even as I rested, it never stopped. Once that pain and soreness began to fade as I grew stronger, it felt like I had lost something. I had plateaued. With the absence of pain came the cessation of progress in my eyes. I had to go harder and faster to satiate my lust for progress and growth lest I forsake my selfish ambitions. Slaanesh is, by far, my favorite Warhammer god. A force without limitations. One that pushes you beyond your limits, for better and/or worse. With Slaanesh, the thirst for more never ceases. A concept that is simultaneously terrifying and fascinating.
