@@Baldermort Only once in mine, I was lucky enough to be at one of the events that became part of the Tyranid attack on the Ultimar Segmentum - damn thing ATE not one, but TWO Land Raiders (killed with bite attack, fluffed as NOM NOM NOM) I wish I had gotten to see more, but my game came up in another room. I was there to take part in the Battle Fleet Gothic event - which eventually became part of the 12th black Crusade (Lost a BB, 3 grand cruisers, and my Ark Mechanicus, but held the system with a single widow-maker escort as the last survivor on the field when the last of the traitors fled into the warp)

Just have to say thank you so much for getting me back into the hobby, while I'm too plebian to afford minis I've been doing art and writing in the 40k (even making my own homebrew Chapter!). That was until my computer was corrupted and I lost not a lot but a significant part of my work and I just dropped it out of sheer frustration. Now after months of just listening I think I'm ready to get back at it with an energy I now realise I've lost during the initial slog of going through the lore and endless content. Randomly rolling for effects on the unit was always a laugh. Time consuming, so I see why they dumped it in favour of the head to head battle. But they were fun mechanics and hilarious if you were playing narratively. :)

Long story short his bodyguards ran off screaming at the sky and clawing at themselves while my shock attack gun finished Russ off. Ironically I still lost the game but oh was it fun.

I know its canonicity is dubious at best, but the Angrifier missile tube of the Angry Marines should get a shout out, for being an oversized, stripped down missile base, intended to deliver a payload far more explosively volatile than any amount of gunpowder. Though, at that scale, it might be more like an air-worthy torpedo. Speaking of torpedoes, Ork Boardin' Torpedoes, too.

I have been a big fan of the missile launcher since 2nd edition. My IG infantry units almost all have one. Fire frag at the less armored units. Orks for example, but fire Krak missiles at units such as Space Marines and light armor vehicles. Though I'm not your Average Astra Militarum player 2000 points I'm putting around 130 models on the table, I like infantry

I mostly play Sisters of Battle, but on the rare occasions where I pull out my sons of Sanguinius my default Devastator squad is 1 plasma cannon, 3 missile launchers, and their Razorback with twin heavy bolters (its actually an Immolator, but I am not buying a "proper" Razorback, it's a rhino chassis with two bolters and I'm not made of money)

I remember trying tanglefield missiles when I first picked up dice so many years ago. I would have liked to know how adeptus mechanicus disruptor missiles work but there is little information about them from what I can tell.

I am legitimately disappointed - I expected the Imperium to have a missile which engaged in Melee. I don't know *how* a missile would engage in melee, why you'd want it to or how effective it would be, but I expected them to have one regardless. Though "anti-plant missiles" being exactly what they sound like is actually quite smart (as a way to clear enemy cover/friendly landing zones) and it's incredibly WH40k when even the gardening is done with missiles, so that makes up for it a bit.

I may just not know about them if they do exist, but missiles can self correct, and lock onto targets, and be easily fired to hit targets behind cover with maximum efficiency. I am unsure of self righting bolt shells

Bolters however I'd say are in no way honorable as well. They are some of the most brutal weapons I've ever seen. They are themselves automatic unguided explosives munitions weaponry. An automatic micro rocket launcher that blow people up from the inside out.

Ahhhh..... I remember all those different ammo types... I will have my sons, who are starting to play. They have no idea the wide range of missile types there use to be, shame. I will sit back quietly and watch them play and have fun figuring out different strategies and tactics on there own. But I remember Rogue Trader and 2nd edition, I have been rebuilding my 2nd edition forces in the shadows, for its return, just like the Necrons, bit by bit slow and quiet 🤫 Thank you for this slice of nostalgia.

I'm sorry I lost track when I realized them blueberry bois could duel wield pzossibly triple wield rocket launchers that take clips like a rifle and can become an anti air anti tank anti infantry unit and the strawberry bois could wield more due to mutations and stuff and why wouldn't korn make a unit that can fire all the types of portable missles from like 3-??? Amounts of arms korns a chaos god of war having a one man equal old ironsides/uss constitution which people may think 12th century cannons were dumb their only down side was poor accuracy other then that a cannon could still collapse a building or take out a unit of men so having one guy equal a whole ass ship that historically had the most cannons and most victories straped with 40k warhammer missle launchers of varying utilities working for a crazy war god like I know theres few named characters outaide the core lore but It'd be neat to see a chaos marine that's just a mess of arm mutations holding a swarm of weapons called like armed one or some other shit house of a name like ol one eye a tyrainid so having a chaos marine named armed one having like 12 extra arms being basically korns 2nd hand dude each arm could be a like normal human arms and then the chaos marine could adapt their armor and bam it sounds crazy but I'd wanna fight that on a table top game the armed one but I also smoke tons of weed so my judgements biased
