Also instead of wasting Shadowheart turns trying to hit with a melee, you can do flame strike, he won't take much damage from fire, but he has no resistance to radiant, also if you have SH using the blood of lathander, that will keep him blinded as he is an undead.

The crystals give 2 turns of resist all elements to anyone standing near then when they get destroyed. can use that to tank the big AoE

Used your tactics on balances, but instead I just bought some scrolls of globe invulnerability ( they sell them at the sorceress sundries). Worked perfectly.

I used the bombs I stole from the dwarf I broke out of moonrise when I met up with him in bg. I Planted them before the fight took halve his health from the start. What a great game

i put the that bomb AND the bomb barrel you get from Philomeen in moonrise and it only took like 150-175 off smh idk if im ddoing something wrong, its not like im placing them far away

you can take his sword and helmet while your main character is talking to him, make the fight easier, that sword do a lot of damage

I was wearing the helmet but didn't realize you could take the sword before the encounter as well; good to know!

I just did this, but I didn't fight ansur. I had my main character enter dialogue then switched to my party and had them steal the helmet and sword, then leave before the fight started. Let my main die and revived him at camp.

This is gold. You can grab helm without starting the dialogue. Then start the dialogue, switch to a different character, loot the wyrm mid conversation, take the sword, then send the party to camp. Go to main character and finish the dialogue. You can either die or if you manage to make it past the doorway you came from you can click to exit the area and end the fight.

I used my bard(lv10) paladin(lv2). Lv5 banishing smite + Lv6 smite reaction crit (from tadpole power) + lv5 smite, took about 200hp in one turn. Reduced him to about 300hp in the first turn with the help of the rest of the party, and he started gathering energy in his first turn. He killed the merman with his lightning explosion, e reduced my whole party to 1/2 - 0 hp, but couldn't keep up with the damage, and fell 2 rounds later. Overall a solid and not so easy fight, even more so because he was immune to lightning damage, essentially shutting down my storm cleric.

Alternatively you can also just drop shitton of explosive barrels and fireworks around him before interacting with him. Keep your teammates at safe distance and make sure the one that interacts - your main character - who has to get really close can teleport or fog step out of there as soon as the fight sequence triggers. And then all it takes is a fire arrow and you can finish him in the very first turn. It's kind of a noob way to do it but I failed on the first 3 tries and then thought how to do it unconventionally. In Baldur's Gate theres even a whole fireworks shop where you can find loads of explosives if you lack and throughout the whole campaign you can find lots of firewine barrels and later smoke powder barrels.

I have been using this exact strategy since the early part of the game, 1 because it's effective and 2 I simply love the explosions and my framerate just dropping like crazy😂

Finally, someone admits about Djinni for this encounter)) he has cc and immunity to Ansur's lightning But when you are threatened, you can freely move around the enemy who threatens you, meaning in the zone of hit attach. So you could have moved around Ansur when the lightning about to hit from the sky. And I feel stupid because I didn't think about the dome XDD

I liked your strategy, I just spent hours figuring out how to do this without any lightening resist potions, my one recomendation, and I'm sure this will be fixed but the big ass dead dragon is too big to fit through the doorway of the entrance , I used that and hid 3 of my characters in the corners while my pally took an ass beating in front of him , hope this helps

When you move the deva, use Z to fly, it will increase the speed by a ton.

Not even sure if my game just bugged out or not but Ansur never attacked my party during this encounter, lol. Everytime it would come to his turn, it would just freeze and eventually skip to the next character. Only had to worry about the other enemies attacking. A bug most likely, but very beneficial.

Yeah I just used lightning elixirs and tanked the hit without looking for a protective spell which would have probably been my next tactic. With the elixir he drops everyone by around 50-60% hp still lol but managed to kill him after that.

If you want to make the fight much, much easier, I recommend using Asatrion to pickpocket and steal the Globe of Invulnerability scrolls (there were 4 in my playthrough), from the merchant at the sorcerers sundries.

I just grouped up, broke a crystal, it gives everyone a buff that makes you resistant to all elemental damage (Cold, Fire, Acid, Thunder, Lightning) for 2 rounds, just have to time it correctly, and then the fight becomes extremely easy.

I did this but the problem I encountered was that he would do the energy attack twice. Meaning that after the first energy attack, I would not have any more crystals to smash

I ran into him clueless on tactitian. I fast reconsidered my course of action after the first try and brought some effectifly useless summens. But they were probaply just enough. After the dust settled only my barbarian was left standing with 1 motherfucking HP and all other 3 were lying on the ground rolling death saves. Noone died but damn that one gave me a fight.

My paladin took half his 200 hp on balanced mode using deva mace divine smiting: with the trusted help of luck of the realms. Used globe of invulnerability and ranged attacks.

I find globe of invincibility is a cheese for this fight, use it right before his lightning shenanigan then just focus on dps afterwards lol

Way late to reply but wizards can learn spells from scrolls for gold.. so all the special spells from sorcerers sundries are perfect for that. I think I found it there or you can just respec at withers and pick up that spell at level 10 or so

You can still go there if you travel to wryms crossing south waypoint and then flying from the one bridge through the other even though its not down you can go through it with fly. Then wallah your there i do it everytime

I just put a shit ton of explosive barrels a day grenades by the dragon before interacting with then i misty stepped out of the way shot the barrels and explosives killed him in two turns after struggling for a day

The first run through l beat him pretty quickly but since the last update I think it's a harder fight. I used the globe but he kept landing in it and benefiting from it. My first run l was a ranger and ranged. This time I am Ftr/Rogue duel wielding. I save scummed this one.

I just thunderwaved these elemental clowns down, dealt some dmg here and there and when he charged i placed like 8 energy kegs under him and he was done. Almost ever turn almost every char had to use a greater/superior health potion
