Oh people were pulling this off during EA too but they were aware of it cause you could do it in their previous games too. It's just a fun thing they leave to the player. If too many people press for it to change then maybe they will but really they just let the players define their own limits and fun.

No installing ceilings would ruin the fun, I like to think that there are ceilings, there’s just also no tops to the walls, kind of like the underside of bathroom stalls in America but instead it’s on the top of the walls instead of the bottom here

Using the Cinematic Camera mod, when you go on Tactical View, since now is detached thanks to the mod, makes the game look so fkn awesome, like a diorama as if you're playing the actual DnD tabletop with figurines and stuff. So the jumping over walls on basements seems legit that way hahaha

Being able to view a fully fleshed out environment is such a strong tool. In table top DnD you can have a drawn map and accessories put out, but nothing can compare to BG3 environments

There is a mansion in Baldur's Gate where I keep erroneously ending up on a LOWER floor when I try to jump my way up stairs and end up taking fall damage from falling two flights.

You can build a tall tower to increase range attacks too. the ceilings are there, but they also aren't. honestly i enjoy shooting down the hanging lights in several places to drop them on enemies that don't see it coming. Hopping over walls like this is actually a call back to the old game where player would sometimes move from one room to another with their movement and would go in a straight line from their character instead of having to go thru the door ways. A lot of first time DM's are loose with the maps and it can lead to people going between rooms where they shouldn't, so being able to "trick the DM" in BG3 is just hilarious. If you swap into tactical view by pressing "O" as a default, you can see the spots to jump to better. lmfao

What was BEYOND the wall though? If there’s an open space there, the area is obviously intentionally there, otherwise they’d likely fall out of the map and die, wouldn’t they? Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great game, but I think you’re giving it too much credit just for the game allowing you to stack boxes when lots of open world games have done that before.

They could have just really tall invisible walls on top of the regular walls to circumvent this Just make it so that camera does not interact with them at all and them blocking jumping over would do the trick. If anyone stacked enough crates to get across, they have earned their ability to exploit it.

Yep. Same engine with similar results. Specific details are different but still work with the same logic. I'm glad I played those while waiting for BG3 to come to PS5. They help me grasp that certain things like that would be possible in this game.

Let's be honest- it's a simulation of a tabletop dnd game. The roof simply doesn't exist- the walls are reusable plastic set pieces- the more realistic move would be to have the narrator chastise you while the characters lifted back to the correct side of the wall

Why tho? Patching or fixing this does nothing but remove your ability for choice. And in D&D choice is where a lot of your fun will come from. Just look at skyrim. Game is fun till you've solved every dungeon because there's only ever 1 or 2 ways to complete it. We're as here? Yeah, this would technically be immersion breaking, but I'd rather have the ability to replay the game a discover new ways to complete an area. Final point, it's a single player game. If it matters that much to you then you don't have to jump through the ceilings. But let those of use that want to have a wacky adventure to enjoy our fun and have our laughs
