5:45 so about a year ago I discovered a way to work around the problem of characters who object to using illithid powers. It's possible this is no longer doable. They add and remove certain things from EA alot. Like you used to be able to take Shadowheart's device away from her through a simple inventory swap. And she would comment about it, and then you couldn't switch back because the device would bind to the player. So having learned the hard way that Shadowheart gets REALLY mad at you if you promise her you won't use the Illithid powers and break the promise I decided to do it again anyway in my next playthrough. But with a twist. After I promised not to do it again, I paused for a moment before initiating a conversation where I knew an Illithid Choice would be offered. I then switched manual control over to Shadowheart herself and had HER use the Illithid power during that conversation. When we got back to camp, I had my Tav go talk to her and there was a new dialogue option where Tav could read Shadowheart the riot act for her hypocrisy. LMAO. All she could do was look all embarassed and apologize for giving in to the temptation. By the end of it I was able to talk her into being more open minded to using the tadpole powers.

Lately, on games that I am excited for. I get hyped before release, and then take my time playing it, or even delay starting it up because the faster I beat it, the less time I ultimately had with the game. Kind of like Dessert, I want to enjoy every moment of it. So I will probably play a little bit that first day, but not take the day off from work.

I usually think this way. BG3 will be so big though, I think your safe to binge 20 hours and not put a dent in the content. I played 100 hours of EA and didn't see lots of content. I was just playing around and not wanting to spoil much but I went to level 5. Your safe with this one, you'll not run out of game to early.

My understanding of the respec of origin characters has always and still is that, other characters will still treat you as a cleric if you are shadow heart or have shadow heart. but while you are looking at dialogue prompts you might be missing a cleric option that should be there.

Just a note about becoming a Mind Flayer in DnD. If you do complete the ceremorphosis, your entire personality and being is replaced within your body by the tadpole's which would mean that your character would become an NPC. Hopefully Larian has stretched the rules a bit to allow for late game mind flayer shenanigans!

24 hour left when I am posting this but I will he at work has well when launch happens. I think what is meant with the respecking is that if the text tag is “shadowhart” It will happen no matter what and may revolve around her being a Cleric of Shar, how ever if the dialogue tag is “Claric” or “Claric of Shar” those dialog options would not be available even if there put on the game under the assumption that Shadowhart would be a Claric of Shar so you miss that content. Or if you make a custom character that is a cleric of Shar the Tav will get those dialog instead

So what I think what Larian means by "influence your roleplay options" is what options you choose as that character. So if you respec Wyll to not be a warlock, the game will still treat Wyll as a warlock. My understanding of this is that in conversations with Wyll as the primary speaker the game will still give Wyll Warlock specific dialogue options. However, while Wyll is the main speaker and you are roleplaying as what he would do, you might decide to opt out and not select the warlock specific dialogue option because of how you respec'd him. All that being the case, I doubt their main story will change at all, with Wyll still doing the bidding of this devil, or resisting their control. However, it might give you the opportunity to roleplay a different angle, just because you made a pact with the devil doesn't necessarily mean it was a warlock pact.

i think for the switching origin character , it woul dnot be a big problem if they stay as companion , cause you would lose only the class writings in dialogues . for example if you are druid and you manage to save a certain red girl druid you would become a hero of all the groves...

My guess on the messaging regarding the origin characters is that the messaging around if you respec them they are still treated as their original class for them as companions, and this new messaging might be if you are playing as one of the origins?

You'll lose only their class tag dialogues, their origin story won't be changed.

It's not meant to be played solo. DOS2 you could, but not BG3.

@@OWlsfordshire Meant to be played solo and possible to play solo are not always the same thing. It seems there are a number of people who have managed the early access content with various solo builds, but it remains to be seen if that translates to the full release.

Not a fan of Sophia based on some of the comments she made... but I won't deny she was 1 of the very few good performances in the trash fire that was Rings of power. I maintain a begrudging optimism that she performs at least as well in RoP As for the origin respecs, I assume they are referring to the dialogue tags, the characters/npc's will still treat them as if they were the original class but the (Fighter) (Cleric) (Rogue) tags won't pop up in dialogue (This is just an assumption made based on the wording and I may end up being completely wrong on this)

Larian has changed what they’ve said is gonna happen when you change the companions class. I’m running with it takes out dialogue promps which changes their story and the second statement they made was either incorrect or was misinterpreted? I’m just not going to change them😂

What about it did you not like? I've tried to find some gameplay for it but there isn't much out there. From what I've seen though it's the closest an RTS has ever come to Warcraft 3 with more focus on hero characters and RPG character progression.

How will class related dialogue options work with a multiclass character? Will it only offer options for your original class, for all of your classes, for a random one of them, or will it have options for specific multiclass?

Story wise you will be treated as original class but I'm pretty sure they said you will get the dialogue options of all your classes for a multiclass character.

As a mindflayer you eat sentient and sapient people brain as a sustenance. Outside of rare magical items or being a lich. So I don't think with this conditions you can be a good mindflayer.

About the change of classes and reactivity we will see it. In my opinion you should expect poor reactivity, and poor quests if you change the origin character classes and some of the others like Halsin/Minithara(maybe not her if you don't make her a paladin/cleric of Lolth).

@@thegrimsaxon790 Too few evil people for that. Even then it is an evil act. I'm not a fan of commiting evil towards acceptable targets makes that act not evil. The only good mindflayer is either a ring of sustenance ,if it exists, or becoming in your first month a lich. Paradoxically a lich ilithid has the greatest chance to be good.

@@bogantofan2420 Ha, I think you overthink a fantasy game too much but I'll bite for fun. How is eating something required for survival innately an act of evil? Are all carnivores evil because they have to kill to survive? Could there really be too few evil people in a game like D&D? In most campaigns you probably meet and kill hundreds of evil aligned enemies before the end and an Illithid doesn't need to eat one every day, or even every week.

@@thegrimsaxon790 If it sentient/sapient yes. We tend to call and consider cannibals' evil. We call vampires(in fiction) that need to survive evil. We exterminating wolves in much Europe because of repeating attack on humans and call them evil. Or enough of a threat that is kill on sight towards them. And in previous editions ilithids outside edge cases evil(in their alignment) and not in their behavior. And I think in 5th edition , outside edge cases, all ilithids are evil, and feeding habits are one of the big reasons why ilithids are evil.
